NAPA Racing UK brought the curtain down on the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season with victory in the final race of the campaign at Brands Hatch.

The Alliance Racing-run team headed into the final weekend of competition having already wrapped up one title, with Ash Sutton, Dan Cammish, Dan Rowbottom and Sam Osborne having combined to secure an unassailable lead in the Teams’ Championship with a round to spare.

Both Sutton and Cammish also retained a mathematical chance of taking the Drivers’ Championship crown, although the pair were both aware that they would need a big dose of luck to be on their side.

PRACTICE & QUALIFYING

Regardless of that fact, the weekend started in positive fashion as Sutton, Rowbottom and Cammish all showed top ten pace during free practice around the full Grand Prix circuit, and the trio then successfully made it through the first stage of qualifying – although Osborne would be knocked out in his group to leave him 18th on the grid for race one.

Having topped his Q1 group, Sutton then headed Q2 to make it to the Quick Six element of the session but Cammish and Rowbottom were knocked out to qualify in tenth and twelfth, with Sutton ultimately going on to secure third.

RACE 1

Sutton made a strong start when race one kicked off to immediately jump into second place going through Paddock Hill Bend, but his title hopes were then ended at Druids when he was caught up in contact from behind that left his car beached in the gravel with damaged suspension.

Cammish had benefitted from the incident ahead to move up six spots on the opening lap and would ultimately end the race in fifth after a long battle with the Vauxhall of Aron Taylor-Smith, although the result wasn’t enough to keep him in championship contention either – meaning the focus turned towards simply maximising the points score across the weekend.

Rowbottom was able to avoid the dramas to work his way forwards into eighth spot, with Osborne also grabbing points as he climbed six spots from his starting position to finish in twelfth.

RACE 2

From fifth on the grid for race two, Cammish was able to get ahead of Mikey Doble’s Vauxhall on the opening lap to sit fourth and would remain in position through to the finish as he was unable to keep pace with the top three ahead.

Behind came a charging Sutton, who had worked his way forwards from 19th on the grid to sit inside the top ten within two laps, and found himself running fifth behind Cammish by the end of lap three.

Sutton would look for a way ahead before eventually settling for fifth spot, with Osborne continuing to make forward progress from qualifying as he added another top ten finish to his resume.

For Rowbottom however, there would be disappointment when he suffered a puncture that saw him run through the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend before pulling off track to retire.

RACE 3

The reverse grid draw put Sutton and Cammish on the second row of the grid for race three in wet conditions, with Sutton running second behind Josh Cook in the early stages before nipping ahead on lap six and he was able to race away from the field behind to take his third win of the year by a margin of more than ten seconds.

Not only was that the largest winning margin seen all year, it was the first time a driver had won a BTCC race by more than ten seconds since Round 12 of the 2006 season at Thruxton.

FINAL STANDINGS

That win secured third in the standings for Sutton, with Cammish finishing just off the podium in fourth spot, leaving him level in the standings with Colin Turkington but having to settle for fifth due to his rival having more race wins.

Osborne signed off with his best result of the year in seventh and winning the Jack Sears trophy for the weekend, with Rowbottom battling hard in the pack to bring home the final point in 15th.

MINI CHALLENGE

Brands Hatch also saw the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE season come to an end, with Cameron Richardson still in contention for the first JCW Sport title.

Although he lost ground to leader Dylan Hotchin in the opening race, Richardson secured a hard-fought win in race two to take the title to the wire after Hotchin went off into the gravel and ended the season with a second place in race two – although Hotchin got the points he needed to wrap up the championship and leave Richardson in second.

In the JCW category, Jamie Osborne’s hopes of ending the season as runner-up to Dan Zelos took a hit when he was forced to retire from race one after an unfortunate clash on the second lap, but he battled his way through the field from the back in race two to grab a podium having gained nine spots.

FINAL STANDINGS

Fourth place in the season finale saw him end the year fourth in the championship standings, with Lewis Selby – already comfortably confirmed as the Directors Cup winner – only missing out the top six by seven points after picking up a best finish of fifth from the three races.

NAPA Racing UK remains in contention for title honours on three fronts after another strong weekend on track in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone.

The Alliance Racing-run team had returned to the top step of the podium in the previous meeting at Donington Park, with Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish both scoring wins to maintain their respective championship challenges.

Heading to Silverstone, both drivers were keen to strengthen their positions towards the top of the championship standings, with Dan Rowbottom and Sam Osborne also looking to be in contention for strong points in the penultimate weekend of racing.

To celebrate the relaunch of technical partner, Valvoline’s all-new VR1 Racing oil, the #1 racing oil in the USA, drivers Sam Osborne and Dan Cammish revealed the VR1 Racing branding on their Ford Focus ST’s, along with race suits and team merchandise. The design was a global collaboration between NAPA Racing’s UK design team and the teams at Valvoline’s Kentucky, USA head office.

PRACTICE & QUALIFYING

Free practice was largely spent fine-tuning the Ford Focus ST for Saturday’s all important qualifying session, with all four drivers showing solid pace to leave the team optimistic about it chances of being in the mix for pole.

Rowbottom and Osborne would run in the first stage of Q1, with Rowbottom successfully making it to Q2 with the fifth best time but Osborne – running an eye-catching new livery to promote the new VR1 Racing oil developed by technical partner Valvoline™ – found himself knocked and left eleventh on the grid for race one.

Sutton and Cammish, the latter running the same livery as Osborne, would the run in the second group as poor weather started to close in on the circuit, and whilst Cammish made it through to Q2, Sutton struggled to get the ultimate pace from the car in the conditions and was left to qualify 14th.

Although Cammish and Rowbottom were unable to make the Quick Six, with Cammish missing out by just 0.024s, the pair would end up qualifying fourth and eighth after three of the cars in Q3 were excluded for failing post-session ride height tests.

RACE 1

Weather conditions had changed for the worse come race day with heavy rain coming down as the field lined up for race one, where a slow start for Cammish saw him briefly drop to seventh on the opening lap.

He battled back well however and battled his way back up the order with impressive moves on Josh Cook and Colin Turkington moving him into the podium positions. Quickest man on track by the end of the race, Cammish was right on the rear of Jake Hill by the flag as he settled for third.

The wet conditions played to Sutton’s strengths as he produced a storming drive through the field to make up ten positions and finish in fourth, picking up the bonus point for fastest lap, although there was disappointment for Rowbottom when he was caught out by standing water early on and sustained damage that put him out of action.

Osborne however maintained his recent solid form to lead home the Jack Sears Trophy runners in eighth place, extending his run of top ten finishes to four.

RACE 2

Conditions had improved somewhat for race two, where Sutton made a fine start to move ahead of Cammish on the opening lap. However, a drive through penalty for a mechanic being alongside his car trying to fix a radio problem beyond the 30 second board dropped him to the back of the grid before he recovered to twelfth at the finish, once again scoring the bonus for fastest lap.

It meant Cammish led the NAPA Racing UK challenge with a solid fifth spot, not quite able to challenge the podium runners but well clear of the pack behind, whilst Osborne once again brought his car home inside the top ten for more points to add to his tally.

From the back of the grid after his race one issues, Rowbottom showed his pace to climb through to the fringes of the top ten but would allow Sutton to move ahead on the final lap to try and benefit from the reverse grid.

RACE 3

As it was, the top six would be turned on its head for that final race which kicked off in the midst of a torrential downpour with Cammish one of a number of drivers to be caught out when he ran off track at Becketts on lap one – dropping him down outside the top ten having briefly climbed into second spot.

Sutton had rocketed up the order into the top three, with Cammish recovering to sixth, when the action was halted as conditions worsened, with a near 30 minute delay before it was safe for the race to resume.

Following the restart, Sutton quickly jumped ahead of Josh Cook into second spot and almost grabbed the lead from Tom Ingram on the final lap before having to settle for second place.

Cammish’s recovery saw him make his way back up into fifth spot, whilst Osborne once again picked up a top ten finish with tenth at the flag and Rowbottom also scored in 15th.

BTCC STANDINGS

Sutton and Cammish will therefore go to Brands Hatch in contention for the title, with NAPA Racing UK taking an extended lead to Finals Day in the Teams’ Championship. The team also retains a slender advantage in the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ Championship.

MINI CHALLENGE TROPHY & PORSCHE SPRINT

Despite the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE not being in action over the weekend, two of the three NAPA Racing UK drivers were in action at Silverstone, with JCW runner Jamie Osborne taking to the track in the Porsche Sprint Challenge UK run on behalf of NAPA Racing by the Parker Classic Works team.

Qualifying twelfth overall and fourth in the RS Am class, Jamie finished the opening race of the weekend in 14th overall but improved two places in race two to take twelfth – finishing both races inside the top six in his class.

His weekend would end with a personal best finish of eleventh overall and fourth in class in the third and final race of the weekend.

JCW Sport driver Cameron Richardson meanwhile made a one-off return to the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy grid, battling his way to a best finish of 15th in the one of the most closely-fought championships in the UK.

Both Osborne and Richardson will return to the usual steeds alongside Lewis Selby at Brands Hatch next month for the season finale.

NAPA Racing UK’s technical partner Valvoline celebrates the relaunch of VR1 Racing at the home of UK motorsport, Silverstone for the penultimate round of the British Touring Car Championship (21/22 September).

To celebrate the relaunch of Valvoline’s all-new VR1 Racing oil, the #1 racing oil in the USA, NAPA Racing UK drivers Sam Osborne and Dan Cammish will be sporting the new VR1 Racing branding with a stunning new livery on their Ford Focus ST’s, along with race suits and team merchandise. The design is a global collaboration between NAPA Racing’s UK design team and the teams at Valvoline’s Kentucky, USA head office.

The Third Time’s a Charm:

This is the third iteration of a livery with partners Valvoline, since NAPA’s entry into the BTCC in 2022. In 2022, Sam Osborne and then teammate Ollie Jackson sported a tribute to Valvoline’s #5 NASCAR of Kyle Larson.

For 2023, the team celebrated the super touring era, with Sam Osborne driving a livery inspired by the 1995 Ford Mondeo, driven by two-time World Touring Car Champion Paul Radisich and Kelvin Burt.

VR1 Racing: An Eye on the Future

Valvoline VR1 Racing oil was the world’s first branded oil specifically formulated to offer unique, proven molecular protection for high-performance engines operating under high shear, high temperatures and high speed (RPM) conditions. It went on to become the best-selling racing oil of all time.

NAPA Racing UK have been using VR1 Racing since their partnership with Valvoline commenced in 2022 and the oil is available in all NAPA Auto Parts Stores.

Oly Collins, Team Manager of NAPA Racing UK said, “We’ve used VR1 Racing in our championship winning cars for the past two years. This year, it felt right to use the opportunity to highlight a product that helps deliver our success.”

Jarno Middelbosch, Valvoline Global Operations Marketing Director EMEA, said, “BTCC in the UK is what NASCAR is in the US; the largest national motorsport series. We are honoured to be able to add excitement to the event for the dedicated BTCC fans with unique branding and engagement – as we do each year in the US. Our motorsport team have worked with NAPA Racing UK to create unique, exclusive content for this round only. As we already start to think about our livery for 2025, we are always keen to hear from fans with inspiration and ideas.”

Fans will have the opportunity to take part in Valvoline’s Instagram (@ValvolineGlobalEMEA) competition to win Dan Cammish’s Valvoline race suit, signed by Dan himself, as well as buy the Valvoline VR1 merchandise at the trackside NAPA Store throughout the weekend.

NAPA Racing UK returned to the top step of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship podium with a pair of wins at Donington Park during the eighth meeting of the campaign.

The Alliance Racing-run team arrived at the East Midlands circuit to tackle the full Grand Prix layout seeking a first win since the Thruxton meeting in early June, with Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish both seeking to maintain their championship bids and Dan Rowbottom bidding to strengthen his top ten challenge after two podium finishes in the previous two meetings.

Sam Osborne meanwhile was looking to try and close the gap to top spot in the Jack Sears Trophy.

FREE PRACTICE

The Ford Focus was in fine form in free practice as Cammish and Rowbottom ended the first session locking out the top two spots on the times, whilst they were joined by Sutton in the top four after the second session; both of which were held in far from ideal conditions.

Unfortunately, qualifying would be something of a mixed bag as only Sutton made it through to the Quick Six segment to earn fourth on the grid, with Cammish in ninth, Osborne in twelfth and Rowbottom back in P15.

RACE 1

In improved conditions for the opening race, Sutton kicked things off with a solid run to second place to outscore the two drivers ahead of him in the championship standings with Cammish enduring a quiet start to proceedings as he gained a single spot to cross the line in eighth.

Osborne showed solid pace to spend every lap bar one running inside the top ten, although Rowbottom was left frustrated by a puncture that forced him into the pits. He was able to benefit from a safety car period however to catch up with the field before recovering through to 14th place at the finish.

RACE 2

Race two would be a Sutton masterclass at the front as he cleared the BMW of Colin Turkington on the opening lap before leading throughout to score his second win of the campaign, with Rowbottom the second Focus home after he surged through the pack to take an impressive sixth spot.

Osborne would repeat his result from race one as he again took tenth, but Cammish found himself in the wars when he was forced off track on the exit of Redgate at the start and dropped to the back of the field; recovering well from that point on to come through to eleventh by the finish.

RACE 3

That put Cammish on pole for race three, and in whilst there was action aplenty behind – and he twice lost his lead to safety car interruptions – Cammish controlled proceedings from the front in impressive fashion to score his first win of the campaign.

It ended a winless run dating back to Croft last season, and also gave him a 50th career podium in the series to leave him fifth in the points, with Osborne starting alongside him on the front row but being shuffled back to tenth by the finish. Despite that, he secured the Jack Sears Trophy win for the weekend.

Rowbottom would lose out during various squabbles in the pack, with a trip wide at the Old Hairpin also having a part to play in him finishing in 13th spot but there was disaster for Sutton after he picked up damaged suspension on lap one that resulted in him needing to make a pitstop that led to an non-classified finish.

NEXT STOP

Despite that, Sutton remains third in the standings, Dan Cammish in fifth, Dan Rowbottom in ninth and Sam Osborne in sixteenth, whilst the two wins from the weekend leave NAPA Racing UK on top of the the Manufacturer/Constructor points and the Teams’ Championship.

Napa Racing UK enjoyed a fruitful trip to Scotland for the latest rounds of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship with a strong haul of points from the three races at Knockhill.

The Alliance Racing-run outfit was bidding to retain its position at the head of the Teams’ Championship standings on a weekend where it adopted a fresh look both on and off track to raise funds and awareness for Race Against Dementia – the charity founded by multiple F1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING

On the circuit, the weekend started well as Dan Rowbottom topped the times in mixed conditions in the opening practice session, and the pace of the Ford Focus ST was further evident in a dry FP2, where Rowbottom again led the way with Ash Sutton making it a NAPA Racing 1-2 at the front.

Come qualifying, Sam Osborne just missed out on progressing to Q2 alongside Rowbottom, Sutton and Dan Cammish although only Rowbottom would then make it into the Quick Six after a frenetic ten minutes of track action.

Cammish would miss out by just a tenth of a second to line up eighth, with Sutton in twelfth, with Rowbottom ultimately securing a place on the second row of the grid with the fourth best time in Q3.

RACE 1

Rowbottom was the only one of the four to take the harder tyre option for race one as he bolted on a set of medium rubber, taking a different strategy to his three team-mates who all went with the soft tyre.

Despite being on the slower tyre, Rowbottom was able to take the flag in seventh place as the second best medium-shod runner, just behind Sutton who displayed impressive race pace to work his way through to six – taking the spot from his team-mate on the final lap.

Cammish would be involved in the midfield scraps as he crossed the line in ninth spot, with Osborne making the most of his tyre choice to climb six spots into the points in twelfth.

RACE 2

Rowbottom’s gamble of running the slower tyre first then worked in his favour in race two as he was able to charge his way through the pack to take the flag in second spot. The fact finished as runner-up came despite a five second penalty for being out of position at the start, further indicating his pace as he scored a first podium of the year.

Forced onto the medium tyre, Sutton and Cammish were both able to improve on their race one results as they took the flag in fifth and seventh, with Osborne sticking with the soft rubber and finishing in 15th – losing ground when he was run wide through turn three whilst part of a huge battle for position.

RACE 3

The final race of the weekend saw the top twelve on the grid reversed, but Cammish was unable to benefit from starting on the third row when he was forced off across the grass at Clarks in the early stages – dropping him down to 16th place.

He battled back well to take the flag in eighth place, which was two spots behind Rowbottom as he again showed his pace to come through from eleventh on the grid to take his second top six finish of the weekend.

Sutton maintained his record of improving his position in each race with fourth – just missing out on the podium – whilst Osborne was forced onto the slower medium tyre and had to contend with a mid-race pitstop, but still scored points in 15th to wrap up the weekend win in the Jack Sears Trophy.

BTCC STANDINGS

At the end of the weekend, Sutton remains third in the Drivers’ Championship with Cammish and Rowbottom in fourth and eighth, whilst Osborne won the Jack Sears Trophy for the weekend and currently sits third in the Jack Sears.

NAPA Racing UK meanwhile continues to head the Teams’ Championship.

MINI CHALLENGE

The penultimate weekend of action in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE proved to be a positive one for Jamie Osborne, Lewis Selby and Cameron Richardson, who all picked up silverware from the weekend.

JCW CLASS

A strong performance from Osborne saw him finish all three races inside the top three on the road, although an unfortunate penalty in the second race for gaining an unfair advantage whilst working his way up the order dropped him back to fifth. Osborne is now just three points away from second in the battle to finish the season as runner-up.

The main beneficiary however was Selby as he moved up into third spot, with the points he secured being enough to confirm him as the winner of the Directors Cup with a round still to run.

JCW SPORT CLASS

Richardson picked up a strong haul of points as he secured a hat-trick of podium finishes, which leaves him second in the standards going into the final round – 39 points off top spot.

MINI CHALLENGE STANDINGS

Osborne leaves third in the standings, with Selby in sixth and Cam leaves still sitting second in the JCW Sport class standings.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO JOINED THE TEAM IN THE RACE AGAINST DEMENTIA.

Our highlights video and the total money raised will be announced soon.

NAPA Racing UK moved on to 18 podiums for the season with another strong on-track display as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returned to action following the summer break at Croft.

The Ford squad headed for North Yorkshire on top of the Teams’ Championship, with both defending champion Ash Sutton and local racer Dan Cammish firmly involved in the title fight.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING

Saturday’s free practice sessions provided plenty of promise for the Alliance Racing-run Fords, with Dan Rowbottom setting the quickest time of the four NAPA Racing UK drivers in FP2, where he ended up in fifth spot.

Sutton and Cammish had earlier run inside the top ten in the first session, where Osborne set his fastest lap before being caught out by rain showers in FP2 that arrived before he had set a quick time.

Qualifying would be a mixed bag for the quartet of drivers as Cammish and Sutton made it to the Quick Six stage to secure second and sixth on the grid, but both Rowbottom and Osborne dropped out in Q1.

That was particularly tough for Rowbottom, who set two laps quick enough to make it into Q2 only to lose the times for track limits infringements.

RACE 1

Although Cammish lost a spot to Tom Ingram on the opening lap of race one, he would run in the top three throughout the race on the soft tyre to score his sixth podium of the season. Also running the soft tyre, Sutton fought his way into the top four in the early stages before chasing Cammish home to the flag, with Rowbottom and Osborne both electing to get rid of the hard tyre at the first opportunity.

Despite that, Rowbottom was able to gain three places to break into the top ten, with Osborne ending the race in P19.

RACE 2

With most of the cars ahead forced to then run the hard tyre in race two, Rowbottom made his strategy pay off in impressive fashion as he charged his way through the field to break into the top three by the half-way stage, allowing him to score his first podium finish of the campaign.

Cammish and Sutton held third and fourth through the opening lap before Sutton got ahead on lap two, with the defending champion surviving a clash with Colin Turkington to ultimately end the race in fifth as the second best car on the harder rubber, with Cammish this time chasing him home to the flag.

Like Rowbottom, Osborne maximised the fact he was now running on the soft tyre as he gained six spots from his starting position to break into the points in 13th.

RACE 3

The top eight would be reversed on the grid for the weekend finale, leaving Cammish and Sutton sharing the second row for the start.

Running side-by-side down to turn one, the pair emerged unscathed through the opening turns despite losing a place, with Cammish ending the opening lap in fourth but Sutton being shuffled down to eighth after contact.

Cammish grabbed second spot on lap two when Ingram and Aron Taylor-Smith ran wide through the Esses, and held the place to the flag to make it seven podium finishes in the last twelve races.

Sutton survived mid-race contact that left his car sideways at Sunny In to take fourth after recovering from his tough opening lap, whilst Rowbottom also had to deal with contact in the race as he took the flag in eighth. Osborne scored his second points finish of the weekend with twelfth spot after a hard-fought battle in the mid-field.

BTCC STANDINGS

Heading away from Croft, Sutton and Cammish sit third and fourth in the standings with Rowbottom having now moved into the top ten, whilst NAPA Racing UK continues to head the Teams’ Championship. Osborne meanwhile remains third the Jack Sears Trophy.

MINI CHALLENGE – JCW

Croft also marked the latest rounds of the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE, with both the JCW and JCW Sport classes in action across two races.

In the JCW Class, Jamie Osborne produced a stunning performance in qualifying to score a double pole position, although a grid penalty carried over from Oulton Park meant he would line up in fourth place for the opening race.

Osborne would run in the podium places for the majority of the race and only missed out on second spot on the final lap when defending champion Dan Zelos managed to nip ahead. Team-mate Lewis Selby meanwhile strengthened his lead in the Directors Cup with another class win, taking the flag in sixth overall.

From pole in race two, Osborne led the early stages before being overhauled by Tom Ovenden on lap five – leaving him to settle for the runner-up spot in second place. Selby would follow him home in third, to make it eight podium finishes for the pair so far this season.

MINI CHALLENGE – JCW SPORT

In JCW Sport, Cameron Richardson topped the times in qualifying to snare pole for race two, although he would line up in second place for race one – the same position in which he would ultimately finish behind current points leader Dylan Hotchin.

Holding the lead at the start of race two, Richardson was overtaken by rival Albert Webster and then spent the remainder of the race fixed onto his tail as he repeated his race one result for a strong haul of points.

MINI CHALLENGE STANDINGS

Osborne leaves third in the standings, with Selby in sixth and Cam leaves still sitting second in the JCW Sport class standings.

Will Jenkins saw brilliant pace only rewarded with a single podium finish as he faced double disappointment during a luckless Porsche Sprint Challenge GB weekend at Croft (27-28 July).

Jenkins made the trip to North Yorkshire in a confident mood following a brilliant start to his second season in one-make Porsche racing, having secured four podium finishes from the opening six races at Snetterton and Oulton Park.

The Staffordshire-based racer headed into the event determined to add more silverware to his collection and started off strongly in his Team Parker Racing prepared Porsche Cayman, producing top three pace in both of Friday’s free practice sessions.

Jenkins, who is part of the exciting Young Driver Programme from reigning British Touring Car Championship champions Alliance Racing and Wera Tools, backed that up with a great run in qualifying the next morning as he finished second fastest overall.

A grid penalty for the quickest driver though meant that Jenkins lined up from pole position for the opening race soon after. Holding position through a typically busy first lap, he soon found himself under pressure from Croft expert Max Coates.

The duo enjoyed some brilliant wheel-to-wheel racing over the next few laps, with the lead unfortunately changing hands at the halfway mark of the race. Jenkins continued fighting for the podium from there, however there would be heart-break on the penultimate lap of the race.

Running side-by-side with Ethan Hammerton into the first corner, contact between their rear wheels dramatically pitched Jenkins into the air and sent him hard into the barriers. As well as cruelly denying him a podium finish, the incident also put his participation in race two a couple of hours later in doubt.

A simply phenomenal effort from the Team Parker Racing crew though ensured he could take the start, and while the car was far from perfect, the 19-year-old talent was able to reward their hard work with a brilliant performance as he held second place from start-to-finish.

Jenkins hoped to double his podium tally in the final race the next day in front of the live ITV4 television cameras, lining up second on the grid. Unfortunately heading through the first corner another driver had a moment, with resulting contact between them immediately ending Jenkins’ race with a burst radiator.

Jenkins, who is racing with the continued support of personal partners alongside Hopkins Motorsport Ltd, Asset Alliance Group, Reefer Trailer Centre, Culina Group, Thermo King Northern and the Motorsport UK Academy, remains fourth in the championship standings at the halfway point of the season.

Will Jenkins: “It’s hard to put into words just how frustrating this weekend has been. Our pace was fantastic from the off and there was so much promise going into the races, but luck deserted us and it’s gutting to come away with only one podium result.

“It’s a very competitive championship with proper, close racing on track, and sadly two racing incidents ended my races while the other drivers carried on unscathed. Motorsport can be very cruel sometimes and it was just one of those weekends for us.

“I have to say a huge thank you to everyone at Team Parker Racing. The way they came together after race one to repair a heavily damaged car in just a couple of hours to get me out on the grid for race two was awesome to watch and a testament to the hard work and skill of the team.

“The car was a real handful to drive as there simply wasn’t time to fix every issue, so to hold second throughout was definitely one of my best drives in Porsche’s so far. I’m pleased I could reward the team’s efforts with a podium finish and I’m determined to get more silverware next time out.”

The 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season continues next month with three races on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit over the weekend of 24-25 August.

Multiple race winner Dan Cammish will remain part of the NAPA Racing UK line-up in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship for 2025 and beyond after signing a new deal with the Alliance Racing-run squad.

Cammish was the first driver to sign up as part of the NAPA Racing UK programme in late 2021 when the automotive parts brand joined forces with what was then Motorbase Performance for its first foray into Britain’s premier racing series.

His first season in NAPA Racing colours saw Cammish finish eighth in the championship standings with a win at Thruxton, whilst he took sixth in the points last year with three wins – a result all the more remarkable considering he was forced to miss the three races at Donington Park GP following an incident in qualifying.

Cammish is firmly on track to better that performance at the mid-way point of the 2024 campaign and is one of the form drivers on the grid going into the second half of the season, having taken five podium finishes in the nine races, before the summer break.

It means the 35-year-old – a three-time winner of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title – sits fourth in the standings, with his points-per-race this season being the second highest of his BTCC career to date.

News of the new multi-year deal comes ahead of Cammish’s home round of the season at Croft, a circuit where he enjoyed one of his best weekends of the year twelve months ago.

Then, Cammish put his Ford Focus ST on pole position before leading team-mates Ash Sutton and Dan Rowbottom to a podium lock-out, and then joined the pair on the podium in race two where he took second behind Sutton.

Cammish’s contract extension further strengthen’s NAPA Racing’s commitment to the BTCC, with the partnership between NAPA Auto Parts and Alliance Racing having been extended earlier this year.

Defending champion Ash Sutton has also already committed his future to the team in a similar multi-year deal.

Dan Cammish, NAPA Racing UK driver, said:

“It is fantastic to have signed another multi-year agreement with Alliance Racing. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team thus far, and I am very proud to be continuing our relationship.

“The support I have from the team – along with NAPA – is something very special and I can’t thank [Alliance Racing boss] Pete Osborne and Steve Richardson enough for their help and trust with this opportunity. I can’t wait to get back on track this weekend at Croft knowing this great team is behind me now, and in the future”

Steve Richardson, CEO of NAPA UK / Alliance Automotive UK Ltd, said:

“Dan’s been with us since bringing NAPA into BTCC and I couldn’t be prouder of what he’s helped us and the team achieve, so I’m delighted to be continuing our incredible journey together.

“I have the pleasure of knowing Dan on and off the track, his professionalism is exemplary and mirrors our own values so it’s natural to keep building on such a strong relationship.”

Pete Osborne, Alliance Racing Team Owner, said:

“We couldn’t be happier to extend Dan’s stay with NAPA Racing UK and in the BTCC, Dan has been a key part of the achievement of the team and a fantastic person to have in our pits.

He’s a true professional on and off the track and has shown the speed, race craft, and consistency to battling up there with the very best on the BTCC grid. We’re all delighted to have Dan and his family as part of NAPA Racing UK for another 2 years and we look forward to achieving even more success with Dan.”

Wera Alliance academy drivers Alfie Garford and Jenson Mason headed to Croft last weekend for round 4 of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship.

Friday testing went well with both showing great pace in the dry conditions. Saturday would bring unsettled weather for their qualifying and race 1 of the weekend.

Both drivers opted to go out in qualy on drys while others gambled on wets. Garford was first out on track and looking very strong to get a pole lap in before the rain came. Unfortunately for the pair of them Jensons car suffered an ABS fault putting him in the gravel and out of contention, this also put the red flag out, halting Garford’s dreams of the pole. On the session restart Garford got the wets on and managed to get a lap in to put him in p8, while Mason would obviously qualify without a time.

Race 1 – The duo know how to start a race! 5 off the line for Mason, 2 off the line for Garford. Mason would see another 3 overtakes and some go wide to cross lap 1 in 10th from the back off the grid! Garford similarly would move into 5th both taking 4th on lap 2.

Mason would scrap for the duration of the race before a delaminated front tyre brought him into the pits before the end of the race.

Garford while in 4th and catching the top trio had a moment under braking similar to Masons ABS fault and would lose 3 places. But by the flag he regained a place to cross over in 6th place.

It was a rain-soaked Sunday for races 2 & 3 of the weekend. The pair would line up 7th and 13th. Garford’s initial lap was strong and moved up to 4th by the end of lap 1. He would then go about catching the lead pack again. Setting fastest laps in the process. Mason made great progression through the field all race long making up 6 places and crossing the line in 7th.

Garford however had other ideas and after catching the lead pack, dived up the inside for 3rd. A clumsy tap into 2nd place would ultimately see him in front of the stewards. He crossed the line to take 3rd place but a penalty was coming his way.

The final race of the day saw the pair start 6th and 22nd. Mason was now at the sharp end and Garford had to start last after his incident in the previous race. A safety car start due to bad conditions halted Garford’s progress to take some easy picking off the line but not to be out done, he gave a sterling effort to pick off 9 cars over the 8-lap race. Mason maintained his 6th place at the start and mid way through had made it up to 4th place. The gap to the front 3 was big, but Mason dug deep and set about some hot laps but ran out of time to catch the pack up and crossed the line in a great 4th place and a podium in class.

The team will head to Silverstone in a month’s time full of confidence and speed knowing they have the pace to be challenging for podiums and race wins.
