The latest rounds of the Power Maxed MINI Challenge series recently took place in Norfolk, as the third weekend of the season took place at Snetterton.

At 2.97-miles, the Snetterton 300 includes the longest lap of the season. And the weekend saw
extremely hot temperatures for Rounds seven, eight, and nine.

This year’s JCW MINI Challenge racecars have been upgraded and refreshed to align closely with the latest Gen. 3 F56 MINI Hatch, which the official MINI Challenge website claims”…brings a modernised look and enhanced structural performance” for the drivers.

Napa Racing UK duo, Joe Tanner and Cameron Richardson, both finished outside the top ten on Saturday’s un-televised race (Round 7) which was won by EXCLER8 Driver Development Programme driver Josh Porter.

Race Two (Round 8)

Sunday’s first Power Maxed MINI Challenge race (Round 8) was the usual Reversed Grid Race, which saw Cameron Richardson line up 11th on the grid and Joe Tanner in 20th place.

As the 20-minute race got underway, Richardson dropped down a couple of places while Tanner managed to remain in place as the field raced through Riches.

The latter was up into eighteenth by the second lap, after getting by SBR Motorsport’s Anthony Sullivan before Will Crooks (EXCLER8 Motorsport) caught a Kwik Fit banner across his MINI’s nose which overheated the engine.

Lap four saw Tanner overtake Pro Alloys Racing driver Ned Anthony, before getting by Cemil Cipa (EXCLER8 Motorsport) on the run through the Bomb Hole and Coram section.

Up ahead, teammate Richardson defended well from Owen Hillman (Pro Alloys Racing), as Tanner closed in following his eighth-lap pass on Chris MacKenzie (Bitcoin Racing).

With Archie Johnson (Jamsport Racing UK) joining the battle, both him and Hillman got by Richardson after the Napa Racing UK driver had a brief excursion off-track. However, he got a place back to take the chequered flag in thirteenth place.

Joe Tanner finished two places behind his teammate in an exciting race, which Charlie Hand (BPC Motorsport) won.

Race Three (Round 9)

The third and final Power Maxed MINI Challenge 20-minute race (Round 9) of the weekend saw Cameron Richardson line up in 12th place, alongside teammate Joe Tanner in 13th.

The latter got the better getaway as the lights went out, and he leapfrogged Richardson to position the number 11 Napa Racing UK MINI in eleventh place. Meanwhile, Richardson found himself down in fourteenth place before Pro Alloys Racing driver Sam Gornall got by the number 15 further round the opening lap.

Ned Anthony (Pro Alloys Racing) relegated Richardson further back on lap two, before EXCLER8 Motorsport driver Will Crooks also got past. Up ahead meanwhile saw Tanner lose out to Gornall, leaving him to fight for his position with Jamsport Racing UK driver Archie Johnson while looking to challenge previous race winner Charlie Hand (BPC Motorsport) for a top ten finish.

However, Tanner ran out of time/laps and saw the chequered flag in a solid eleventh place. Teammate Richardson continued to fall backwards sadly. Cemil Cipa (EXCLER8 Motorsport) got by on the penultimate lap to see Richardson finish sixteenth. But, Jamsport Racing UK driver Johnson was hit with a penalty, which promoted Richardson to 16th place in a race that was won by Josh Porter (EXCLER8 Driver Development Programme).

As the dust settled on another busy Power Maxed MINI Challenge racing, Joe Tanner occupies 11th place in the JCW Drivers’ Championship table with 278. Cameron Richardson sits right behind his teammate in 12th with 269 points. Tanner also occupies second place with 450 points in the JCW Directors Cup, while Napa Racing UK sits in fifth place with 547 points in the JCW Teams Championship table.

NAPA Racing UK Race Report — BTCC Brands Hatch (Indy Circuit)

Our BTCC drivers, though still leading the championship, found themselves in a weekend of mixed conditions and mixed results. With the sun shining on Saturday, all four of our drivers finished in the top 15 to score points with Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish taking to the podium in 1st and 3rd.

On the other hand, a cold and gloomy Sunday made for a day of highs and lows, with Ash Sutton continuing a run of podiums in every race of the season. The other three did not have luck on their side as the rain came out, and the track became greasy.

Race 1 — Sutton Hits 50 Wins

Ash Sutton opened the day in perfect style, converting pole into a controlled and clinical victory — his 50th BTCC win, achieved in greasy, rain‑threatened conditions.

Sutton launched cleanly and managed the early safety‑car interruption after Adam Morgan’s off.

Ricky Collard briefly snatched the lead, but Sutton immediately countered with a decisive move at Surtees.

Dan Cammish ran strongly in the sister NAPA Ford, battling inside the top four before a late‑race shuffle.

Sutton’s pace and composure delivered a flag‑to‑flag‑style win, marking a major milestone for both driver and team.

NAPA Highlights:

P1 – Ash Sutton

P4 – Dan Cammish

P6 – Sam Osborne

Race 2 — Sutton Fights to P2 in the Chaos

Race 2 unfolded in classic Brands Hatch drizzle — unpredictable, slippery, and incident‑filled.

Sutton led early from pole but was shuffled back as Ricky Collard attacked and Charles Rainford applied pressure.

Contact between Ingram and Sutton at Clark Curve cost momentum, but Sutton regrouped superbly.

Árón Taylor‑Smith’s charge from P13 stole the headlines, but Sutton’s measured drive secured P2, keeping NAPA’s points haul strong.

NAPA Highlights:

P2 – Ash Sutton

Strong mid‑pack recovery pace from Osborne and Cammish before late‑race incidents.

Race 3 — Sutton Charges to Second

Starting seventh in the reverse‑grid finale, Sutton delivered one of the drives of the day.

A bold outside move at Paddock Hill immediately launched him into podium contention.

He then engaged in a fierce but clean battle with Mikey Doble for third, eventually securing P2 behind race‑winner Tom Ingram.

The result capped a weekend of relentless pace and consistency.

NAPA Highlights:

P2 – Ash Sutton

Strong early pace before incidents for Cammish

Consistent midfield progress for Osborne

A points finish for Selby

MINI CHALLENGE JCW

Across the paddock, the MINI Challenge boys had an equally challenging weekend. Joe Tanner had a strong start, taking P4 in Race 1 and carrying that momentum into Race 2. Race 3 saw an unfortunate DNF as the number 11 found himself in the gravel.

Cam Richardson had a consistent weekend, finishing in the teens across all three races and securing himself more championship points. He is looking to take learnings from the weekend and come back stronger at Snetterton (23-24 May).

NAPA Racing UK will embark on an exciting new chapter this year as it brings a new iteration of the Ford Focus to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship grid, the saloon-based Titanium model.

With four-time champion Ash Sutton, title contender Dan Cammish, race winner Sam Osborne and debutant Lewis Selby forming its driver line-up for the 2026 season, the team has made no secret of its desire to introduce a new machine into the UK’s premier motorsport series.

Born out of the hatchback version of the Focus, which has guided NAPA Racing UK to a total of 36 wins and six titles since they debuted in 2022, the front three-quarters of the new car shares a striking resemblance to the old car, along with the wheelbase.

However, it’s towards the rear where things have changed, with new bodywork forming a sleeker, more aerodynamically efficient look that will help reduce drag. In addition, the changes made to the cars should mean that they are slightly lighter, which will aid performance.

Whilst the team evaluated several different options, the future-proofing decision to remain with the Ford marque has also guaranteed that NAPA Racing UK’s long-standing and successful association with engine builders, Mountune, will continue.

While the car is not currently sold in the United Kingdom, one element of the forthcoming 2027 BTCC homologation requirements (i.e. that which permits the use of cars not currently sold in the UK) has been brought forward a year, allowing the team to use the saloon version of the Focus.

This was unanimously approved by all the existing teams and TOCA, prior to the team embarking on the project.

All four cars will take part in a shakedown in the coming days before then going on to attend the official championship pre-season tests at Croft and Brands Hatch.

Antonio Carrozza, NAPA Racing UK Lead Engineer, commented: “This is an exciting time for the entire team. It was a lengthy process to come to this decision, such were the options we had, but we feel like the saloon version of the Focus is the way to go.

The ultimate goal is to reduce aerodynamic drag. We highlighted that as an area we wanted to address last season, and this move to a different shape allows us to do just that; there are many elements that remain the same to the car, however, there will be some fine-tuning required.

Everyone involved in this project has done a fantastic job, and now the exciting bit comes next: to head out on track and begin dialling the car into what we hope will be a championship challenger.”

Pete Osborne, Alliance Racing Team Owner, said, “I can’t wait to get going. We’ve had a very busy winter with the team behind the scenes working relentlessly on reworking the Focus into a virtually new car, one that looks stunning.

“We’ve got a good test programme scheduled in for March, where the drivers and engineers will get to work on understanding the changes to the new car. Everyone is very excited for this year, and we’ll be doing our best to get the number one back on our car.”

Steve Richardson, Managing Director of NAPA UK / Alliance Automotive Group UK&IE Ltd, said: “Having seen the methodical process in selecting this year’s car, I’m delighted with the progress we’ve made during the off-season. Being able to continue with Ford, having had so much success in previous years, along with Mountune, means we have the cornerstones of what is shaping up to be an exciting season on track.”

It’s not just the BTCC challenger that has been overhauled in recent months either, as changes have been afoot when it comes to the MINI CHALLENGE JCW car too.

In what is a true statement of intent from the race-winning outfit, Tanner makes a triumphant return to the grid this year, where he’ll join Cameron Richardson to don the striking blue and yellow NAPA colours.

Having stepped away from racing for a couple of seasons, the Scotsman – who operates the globally recognised helmet painting company Rennat Design – is widely regarded as one of the series’ leading lights of the modern era.

Boasting a rich racing pedigree, which has previously seen him compete in the Scottish MINI Cooper Cup and be crowned a Scottish Formula Ford Champion, Tanner lifted the Directors Cup in 2023 and came oh-so close to claiming an outright win on multiple occasions in the process.

Now ready to do battle once more, Tanner is relishing the prospect of fighting towards the front of the field in what is the latest iteration of MINI car, with the off-season having seen Alliance Racing upgrade both cars with the all-new F66 bodywork kit.

“I’m so happy to be back in the MINI CHALLENGE,” enthused Tanner. “I love the JCW Championship, and it is a dream come true to be back, especially with such an iconic brand such as NAPA and with the amazing Alliance Racing team.

I can’t thank Pete Osborne and Steve Richardson enough for entrusting me with such an incredible opportunity. It’s going to be as competitive as ever this year, but I’m confident we can be in the mix – I can’t wait to get going.”

NAPA Racing UK can confirm that Jamie Osborne has medically withdrawn from the season’s conclusion at Brands Hatch this weekend (4th/5th October).

Having initially been withdrawn for Silverstone Rounds 14-16 and following expert medical advice, the team have made the difficult decision to conclude Jamie’s season, finishing with 11 podiums, including 5 wins and having led the championship up until that point.

With the MINI Challenge Team’s Championship still up for grabs, NAPA Racing UK can confirm former Le Mans 24-hour race winner and Porsche Factory driver Nick Tandy will be driving alongside Lewis Selby, taking the wheel of the #77 NAPA Racing UK charger to spearhead the team’s final championship push. Nick will be running the number 128.

Nick is a longtime friend of the team and no stranger to the TOCA paddock, running the JTR Porsche race team. Nick has one of the most accomplished CVs in global motorsport, winning in Formula Ford, Formula Palmer Audi, and F3, before returning to closed wheel racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, winning the championship in 2011.

In 2025, Nick was crowned “Mr 24-hours” having completed the Grand Slam of all the most iconic 24-hour endurance races: Le Mans 24-hour race, Daytona, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Nick will make his NAPA Racing UK debut in Friday’s test session (3rd October) before taking to the track for Round 17 the following day.

PETE OSBORNE – NAPA RACING UK TEAM PRINCIPAL:

“Needless to say, as a team and a family, we’re devastated that Jamie has been unable to compete in the final two rounds of the JCW Championship, especially given the success he was enjoying this year with a commanding lead heading into Silverstone. As always, his health and well-being come first, and our priority is for Jamie to focus on his recovery.

After speaking with Jamie, instead of parking the car for the final round, we have decided to bring in another driver to fly the flag for NAPA & Alliance Racing. I think we will all agree that Nick is an outstanding driver and will do a fantastic job for us, but he is also a good friend. He has close ties to both NAPA & Wera Alliance Racing Academy, as well as myself, and he has a rare weekend away from his international duties, so he has stepped in to give us a final race weekend to remember. He will be a valuable asset to the team, his teammates & the JCW Championship.”

NAPA Racing UK has confirmed that former championship leader Jamie Osborne will miss the final meeting of the Vertu MINI Challenge season this weekend at Brands Hatch.

Osborne has topped the championship standings from the opening meeting of the year at Donington Park, and scored five wins from the opening six races to give him a healthy lead over the chasing pack.

Unfortunately, Osborne was forced to miss the penultimate meeting of the campaign at Silverstone two weeks ago, which resulted in him slipping back to second in the standings with three races left to run.

Osborne had hoped to be able to make a return for the final meeting bust has instead been forced into the difficult decision to once again remain on the sidelines as he continues his recovery.

It means Lewis Selby, who sits level of points with Osborne in the standings, will now look to lead the NAPA Racing UK challenge during the season finale as he seeks to overhaul current championship leader Tom Ovenden.

PETE OSBORNE – NAPA RACING UK TEAM PRINCIPAL:

“As always Jamie’s health and wellbeing has to come first.

Having concentrated on his recovery since Silverstone, we’ve had to make the difficult decision that he will also need to sit out this weekend and won’t be out on track.

As a team and as a family, we’re devastated for Jamie that he has been unable to compete in the final two rounds, particularly when he has been having such an amazing year, but we all remain hugely proud of how he has performed.”

Unlike at Silverstone, a replacement driver has been nominated by NAPA Racing UK to score points towards the Teams’ Championship this weekend, although they will remain invisible in terms of points towards the Drivers’ Championship.

The identity of that driver will be confirmed in due course, ahead of track action underway with Friday’s free practice sessions.

NAPA Racing UK scored two wins from three as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season resumed at Croft.

The Yorkshire venue is the home race for Sam Osborne, Dan Cammish and MINI Challenge JCW Championship leader, Jamie Osborne. With the weekend falling on Yorkshire Day, the locals all ran the White Rose of Yorkshire on their cars to mark the occasion.

The Alliance Racing-run squad went into the weekend leading the Drivers, Teams and Manufacturers Championship standings.

BTCC Practice & Qualifying:

Ash Sutton was the pacesetter amongst the NAPA Racing quartet in practice thanks to his time in FP1, with Cammish and Rowbottom also lapping inside the top ten through the two sessions as the team worked to prepare for qualifying.

A mistake in sector two of his best lap saw Sam Osborne exit qualifying in the first stage to line up in 18th place on the grid for the opening race of the weekend.

Track limits were the story of the day for several drivers, with Ash losing his quickest time, to see him exit the second phase of qualifying. This left him eleventh on the grid. Dan Cammish and Rowbottom were left to uphold NAPA Racing honours in the Quick Six shootout.

Cammish continued his strong qualifying performances and ended up second fastest and earn a place on the front row of the grid, with Rowbottom in fifth, again losing multiple quick laps to track limits.

BTCC Race 1:

Having qualified well, Cammish and Rowbottom bolted on the soft tyres for race one, with Cammish challenging for the lead at the start before slotting into second spot, going on to secure a popular podium in front of the local crowd.

Rowbottom took fourth, having spent most of the race battling for the final step of the podium with Hyundai’s Senna Proctor, whilst Osborne chose to run the hard tyre and took a strong 14th to clinch a handful of points.

Sutton, however, endured a race to forget as, despite an incredible race, moving forward despite the hard tyre, he was forced to pit with a left front puncture just as the safety car came in after a mid-race caution. That dropped him off the lead lap and left him unable to score back in 20th place.

BTCC Race 2:

With championship rules dictating the top three finishers in race one must start race two on the hardest compound, Cammish wasn’t expected to retain his place at the front but battled valiantly to finish tenth.

Rowbottom took full advantage of being able to choose the quicker soft tyre as he skilfully overhauled the three drivers ahead to hit the front. Showing his pace as the only driver in the field to lap below the 1:22s mark, Dan built a gap and was able to control the race from the front to secure his third win of the season and a fifth of his BTCC career.

Starting with a soft tyre and a full allocation of turbo boost to play with, Ash Sutton enjoyed a stella drive through the field from the back to finish in a strong fifth place and take points out of title rival Tom Ingram. Sam Osborne crossed the line in twelfth having been embroiled in the midst of a hard fought battle in the midfield.

BTCC Race 3:

The final race of the weekend would prove to be one of mixed emotions and a “classic” BTCC race three. Sutton charging from fifth on the grid to grab victory thanks to a fine move at the final hairpin to overtake both championship-rival Ingram and the BWM of Aiden Moffat in one swoop.

Osborne also impressed as he ended the weekend with seventh.

One the other end of the spectrum, Cammish and Rowbottom would be victim of an early accident at the complex in which Cammish was tipped into a spin before coming back across the circuit in front of the field.

Contact and the resultant damage put him out of the race, with Rowbottom picking up damage in the melee behind that left him needing an unscheduled trip to the pits. Dan did manage to salvage the final championship point to keep his championship total ticking.

BTCC Standings:

Sutton, Rowbottom and Cammish now lie second, third and fourth in the standings with NAPA Racing UK continuing to head the Teams’ Championship. Osborne remains third in the Jack Sears Trophy.

MINI Challenge:

In the MINI Challenge, Jamie Osborne retained his lead in the standings as the JCW field returned to action, qualifying on the front row of the grid and then bagging two podium finishes – taking third in race one, before going one better in race two to finish as runner-up.

Lewis Selby maintained his bid for a top three position in the championship with a pair of fourth place finishes, with Cameron Richardson ending both races just outside the top then.

Alex Solley had looked good for a strong weekend after showing impressive pace in Friday practice, but an accident in qualifying put him on the back foot before a fine recovery through the filed to take eighth place.

He would be forced out of race two early after unfortunate contact on the exit of the chicane when he was unable to avoid a spinning car ahead.

MINI Challenge Standings:

Jamie retains the lead in the MINI Challenge Championship standings, with nine races left of the championship.

The team now heads to Knockhill for the next instalments of the BTCC and MINI Challenge where NAPA Racing will show its support for Race Against Dementia. Click here to see how to get involved.

NAPA Racing UK moved on to four wins for the year with a double success in the third meeting of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season at Snetterton.

The Alliance Racing-run squad headed the Drivers Championship going into the weekend at the longest circuit on the calendar, with Ash Sutton leading the way and both Dan Cammish and Dan Rowbottom well placed inside the top ten.

PRACTICE & QUALIFYING

The Ford Focus ST showed solid pace across free practice in mixed conditions, with Cammish setting the fourth best time and Rowbottom only missing out on the top ten by less than a tenth of a second. Sutton was just behind despite having minimal turbo boost to make use of, whilst Sam Osborne in the fourth car ended up 18th quickest.

Sutton and Cammish topped the two groups in the first stage of qualifying as Rowbottom also progressed to Q2, with Osborne ending up 16th on the grid having failed to make it into the second phase of the session.

The remaining trio made it the fight for pole, with Cammish securing his spot at the head of the field for the second time in three meetings with a fine lap that saw him end just 0.030s ahead of his closest rival. Rowbottom would head the second row of the grid, although Sutton would have to settle for sixth after electrical gremlins saw him come to a halt on track.

RACE 1

From pole for the opening race, Cammish maximised his performance in qualifying with a near faultless drive at the front of the field, managing the soft tyre and utilising his turbo boost allowance to perfection to build a slender lead that he could retain to the finish.

Sutton quickly fought his way into the podium positions and would spend the entire race trying to get ahead of Tom Ingram for second, trying his hand on the final lap before brief contact at Agostini – with Sutton backing out of the move to avoid a potential penalty and settling for third.

Rowbottom was “best of the rest” as three of the NAPA Racing cars finished inside the top four, with Osborne battling his way to a 14th place finish to nab two championship points despite electing to run the hard tyre to get it out of the way at the first opportunity.

Race 2

Cammish and Sutton were both forced to run the hard tyre in race two, with the difference in performance preventing them from battling for top honours – with Sutton slipping back to tenth by the finish despite leading early on, and Cammish only able to take 20th having been run offline onto the dirty part of the circuit on more than one occasion.

Able to run the soft tyre once again, Rowbottom quickly got to the front of the field and then put up a fine drive to fend off the challenge of his rivals behind – most notably Dan Lloyd, who briefly took the lead only for Rowbottom to fight back ahead.

In the closing stages, Rowbottom came under attack from Adam Morgan for the win, but he kept his rival at bay to score his first win of the campaign. Osborne also ran the soft tyre and showed his pace to race his way into the top ten, taking the flag in eighth spot.

Race 3

Still running in the special livery created to celebrate 100 years of NAPA, Sutton led an impressive final race for the Ford squad, jumping up to fifth on lap one and then picking off the cars ahead after an early caution period to run in second spot.

Sutton would close onto the rear of leader Mikey Doble but was unable to find a way through, and had to settle for a place on the second step of the podium. Benefitting from his strategy of running the hard tyre earlier in the day, Osborne’s progress up the order continued as he finish in a strong fifth, recovering much of the ground lost on the hard rubber as he made up 13 spots to finish in sixth.

Rowbottom, now on the hard tyre, would finish outside the points in 17th as the third best driver running that rubber.

BTCC STANDINGS

At the end of the weekend, Sutton holds a 15-point lead in the standings with Rowbottom and Cammish in fourth and fifth. NAPA Racing UK has also closed to within four points of the Manufacturers/Constructors championship lead ahead of Thruxton.

MINI CHALLENGE

The second meeting of the season for NAPA Racing’s four-strong line-up in the Vertu MINI Challenge would also prove to be successful as Jamie Osborne extended his lead in the championship standings.

Fresh from three wins at the Donington Park season opener, Osborne qualified on pole position and raced his way to victory in races two and three of the weekend, having taken third place in race one.

A 100% podium record this season means he now holds a lead of more than 60 points at the head of the standings, with Lewis Selby ending the weekend in third spot after three solid race of his own.

Selby would be in the heart of the action throughout with three top six finishes, all of which came after he had been involved in frantic battles within the midfield – a number of which included rookie team-mate Alex Solley.

Keen to bounce back from a disappointing DNF in the final race at Donington Park, Solley matched his best result to date with eighth in the opening race and was inside the top ten in all three races – although a time penalty in race two would impact on his points scored.

Cameron Richardson also picked up three solid results from his second meeting in the car, with twelfth spot in race three being his best result of the weekend.

The JCW cars will next be in action at Oulton Park late next month.
