“It has been a fantastic debut year in car racing and a perfect way to start my journey in cars. Originally we didn’t know if we could afford to do the whole season but I showed front running pace from my very first test day so we committed and went into the first race weekend with limited practice and no expectations. I ended up winning my very first race which was also my first ever race out of karting. It was an incredible feeling which gave me the motivation to be even better and improve further throughout the year and with the help of the Wera Alliance Racing Academy, who joined me on my journey halfway through the season, I managed to continue my winning ways throughout the year and win the SR1 Championship with 2 races still to go.”

Theo season stats:

2023 Radical SR1 Champion

2023 Radical Overall Champion

9x wins

1x 3rd

Jenson made his debut in circuit racing this year in the 2023 BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship in a MK6 Fiesta ST. At just 14 years of age, he started the season as the youngest driver on the grid. He quickly showed that he has a natural talent and ability with a fifth in class at round one at Snetterton. Followed by two trips to the podium, with a third in class at Knockhill and a third in class at Brands Hatch. And a very impressive P2 overall in qualifying at Silverstone, and fastest lap in class at Donnington.

2023 saw the largest EVER grids for the Fiesta Junior Championship so it made it even more impressive to see Jenson finish fifth in class and ninth overall in the 2023 championship in his debut season.

Jenson was offered a fantastic opportunity with the Wera Tools Alliance Racing Academy, to become one of their junior drivers for 2023. Without such an opportunity, the leap into the highly competitive world of motor racing would have very much been a pipedream. From humble beginnings, Jenson has always been a privateer with dad and grandad in the awning and mum and uncle helping behind the scenes.

An impressive debut season for the young driver from Cambridgeshire. He has proved he will be one to watch in 2024.

Jenson Mason: “This year has been amazing. I have learnt so much and have loved every second of it. I have developed my driving skills throughout the season, and I am very proud of our achievements this year, especially as privateers”.

“I’ve had the best year and have made some lifelong friends. I can’t wait to get back out there and see what we can achieve in 2024!”

“I cannot thank Alliance Racing & Pete Osborne and Wera Tools & Tool Maniac enough for their support this year. Without all these guys, and my amazing family, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I will always be grateful for that. Not many kids get the opportunity to do what I do, and I feel very lucky to be one of them”.

Talented young racing driver Will Jenkins enjoyed a fantastic first season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB in 2023, securing six podium finishes across the campaign including a stunning breakthrough race victory at Donington Park.

After earning his spot in Alliance Racing’s Young Driver Programme with great performances on his way to finishing second overall in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge last year, Jenkins made the exciting move into one-make Porsche competition with leading team Century Motorsport.

Standing out on the grid with the eye-catching Wera Tools livery on his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, Jenkins faced a steep learning curve in the ultra-competitive championship as both he and the team got to grips with the car for the first time.

Making huge strides forward through the opening event of the year, Jenkins picked up his first piece of silverware next time out at Snetterton with a thrilling charge from ninth on the grid to third. Securing another trophy at Croft, his season highlight then followed at Donington Park.

A star performance in tricky changing conditions in qualifying secured him a maiden pole position by a quarter of a second. The Staffordshire-based racer duly converted that into a superb lights-to-flag victory in the opening race, before adding another podium finish the next day.

Jenkins went on to end the season on a high note in the season finale at Brands Hatch. A fighting drive in race two got him a podium finish from seventh on the grid, before he ended the campaign on the podium again with another third place result.

Will Jenkins: “I’ve loved every second of competing in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB this season. A massive thank you to Alliance Racing and Wera Tools for the opportunity this year, as well as to Century Motorsport for all their hard work.

“I’ve learnt more this year than ever before. Considering me and the team had not even seen our car a week before the season launch, we’re very proud to have progressed into a winning package in just four rounds against such a competitive field.

“Although we didn’t come away with the ultimate result we wanted in the championship, I am delighted with what we achieved. I’ve made huge progress as a driver and look forward to taking everything I’ve learnt into 2024 and beyond.

“I am extremely grateful for the support of Alliance Racing and can’t wait to continue working together next year!”

The British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) season culminated in spectacular fashion as four-time Clio Cup Champion, Paul Rivett, secured his maiden Division 2 title in a thrilling grand finale weekend.

The Brands Hatch extravaganza took centre stage, drawing a sold-out crowd over two action-packed days. With just a single point separating Rivett from Adam Bint, the championship battle hung in the balance as qualifying commenced on Saturday, 4th November. The weekend started with challenging track conditions, meaning qualifying concluded earlier than planned, with Rivett settling for second place.

RACE 1

As the lights turned green, both title contenders, Adam Bint and Rivett led the grid. However, an incident at Graham Hill bend dashed Rivett’s hopes of victory as contact with a Division 1 truck forced him to retire from the race. Fortunately, a red flag due to worsening conditions resulted in no points being awarded, maintaining the single-point gap between the rivals.

RACE 2, 3 AND 4

The next three races saw yet again the championship swing back and forth between both drivers. Rivett took to the starting grid in prime position, ahead of his championship rival, Bint. A great getaway from Rivett saw him maintain his lead, eventually taking the chequered flag to win the final Saturday race of the day.

For Race Three, the reverse grid placed the #22 NAPA truck in fifth position. Despite a collision with Bint through Surtees that sent Rivett spinning, his remarkable save allowed him to claim third place and a spot on the podium. The final full race of the day saw Rivett starting sixth due to the reverse grid. After a strong start, a mechanical issue forced him off the track, but a swift recovery and series of overtakes allowed him to finish in third place.

RACE 5

With both drivers tied on points and a ‘winner takes all’ scenario looming, an accident in Division 1 led to the abandonment of the race meeting. Despite the tie in points, Rivett’s outstanding 18-race wins, compared to Bint’s six, secured him the championship for the first time in his illustrious career.

Rivett’s BTRC campaign initially faced challenges, with a jaw-dropping 32-point deficit after two out of the seven rounds. But then came the remarkable turnaround as Rivett transformed from an underdog to a relentless force on the track, taking a dominant 18 wins, 16 fastest laps and three pole positions.

“What an amazing feeling to be a champion once again! Thank you so much to everyone who has made this possible. It’s a massive team effort, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you.
MINI CHALLENGE TROPHY

The final race weekend of the year (November 4/5) also featured the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy drivers, Cam Richardson and Callum Eason. Having made their racing debuts in the MINI Cooper at Brands Hatch at the start of the season, both rookies showed remarkable progress throughout the year. Racing alongside the TOCA and BTRC packages, they consistently achieved impressive results. Richardson and Eason concluded their rookie season in a commendable 9th and 10th place in the Rookie class.

A stunning season on track for NAPA Racing UK ended on the highest of highs after the team successfully wrapped up no fewer than three Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship titles on Finals Day at Brands Hatch.

Ash Sutton became only the third driver in series history to secure the Drivers’ Championship for a fourth time and the first driver to claim the title in both rear-wheel and front-drive machinery. Whilst the Alliance Racing-run team ended BMW’s seven-year stint on top of the Manufacturers’ / Constructors’ standings.

That marked the first time a Ford team had secured the title since 2000, with NAPA Racing UK also lifting the Teams’ Trophy for the second successive season.

QUALIFYING

Sutton went into the weekend with a 45-point lead over 2022 champion Tom Ingram and extended his lead at the top in Saturday’s qualifying session; making light of a lack of hybrid power to grab the bonus point on offer for pole position.

That was Sutton’s sixth pole of the year – equalling the modern-day record – and gave NAPA Racing UK a remarkable nine pole positions from ten sessions. It also confirmed Sutton as the winner of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award as top qualifier.

RACE 1, 2 AND 3

Aware that he only needed to finish ahead of Ingram in Race one to wrap up the title, Sutton held his lead at the start and was never at serious risk of being overhauled as he scored win number eleven of the season – securing an unassailable lead in the standings in the process.

Win number twelve – equalling the record set by Alain Menu in the Super Touring era of the 1990s – quickly followed in Race two as Sutton once again led from start-to-finish and despite being forced into an unscheduled pitstop in Race three to have debris removed from the front of his Ford Focus, rounded out his season with 13th place.

Ending the season on 446 points, 46 clear of Ingram, Sutton clinched another record by beating the previous best posted by Colin Turkington, whilst he set a new best for laps led having been out front for 174 laps across the campaign.

Alongside Sutton, there was a welcome return to form for Dan Cammish after a tough run of results had seen him fail to score in the previous six races. Cammish would pick up three top ten finishes, and made the most of running the soft compound tyre in Race two to make a return to the podium places for the first time since Croft; cementing his position in the top six in the championship standings in the process.

Three solid top-ten finishes for Daniel Rowbottom allowed him to wrap up seventh in the standings, although he was left to rue a bad start in the final race of the campaign when on the front row of the grid that saw him slip back down the order. Despite that, he scored his best result of the weekend in P5 to complete a hat-trick of top eight finishes.

A tricky finale for Sam Osborne saw his chances of securing the Jack Sears Trophy (JST) ended in the second race of the weekend when contact from the Cupra of James Gornall saw him go off heavily into the barriers at Paddock Hill Bend.

Fantastic work from the NAPA Racing UK squad enabled him to get back out for the final race, where he came from the rear of the field to cross the line in 17th place.

It means he ends the season fourth in the JST standings.

MINI CHALLENGE JCW

The focus for the final meeting of the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE JCW season was firmly on the fight for the Graduate Cup, with Jamie Osborne taking a slender lead over rival Dominic Wheatley into the final weekend.

Osborne was left with work to do after qualifying behind his rival for the opening race but strong race pace enabled him to not only close onto the rear of Wheatley by the end of lap one, but then fight ahead to extend his advantage in the points.

His advantage was increased when Wheatley was forced to retire from Race two, meaning Jamie only needed to finish the final race of the season to secure the class title.

It looked like there could be late heartache when Osborne damaged the splitter on the car and was forced to pit by officials, but the team was able to patch up the #77 machine so he could return to the track – cruising round at the back of the field to secure the points needed to lift the Graduate Cup crown.

Team-mate Lewis Selby meanwhile ended his season with three solid points finishes, the highlight coming in Race three as he battled his way ahead of Simon Reed in the closing stages to score a third Directors Cup victory of the season.

That helped to cement second in the Directors Cup standings in his rookie season.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Fresh from victory at Silverstone, Gus Burton was keen to end his season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB on a high and put his JTR-run car seventh on the grid in a tight qualifying session that saw the top 19 drivers covered by less than a second.

Jumping up into fourth at the start, Gus was one of a number of drivers to slide off on fluid dropped on the circuit on the second lap and dropped down the order before an unfortunate clash with Jake Giddings as he attempted to make his way back through the pack resulting in him being forced into retirement.

Forced to start back in P11 for Race two as a result, Burton fought his way through to take seventh overall – sixth in the Pro class – on the final lap.

It means Burton ends the year seventh in the points, a notable result considering that he only contested five of the eight meetings due to his commitments elsewhere.

Will Jenkins has concluded his 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season with a brilliant double podium finish during an exciting season finale weekend at Brands Hatch (07/08 October).

The talented young racer has enjoyed an impressive maiden year of one-make Porsche competition, with the finale podiums being added to a stunning maiden race victory and pole position at Donington Park and further top three race results at Snetterton and Croft.

Jenkins, who has competed this season as part of BTCC team Alliance Racing’s Young Driver Programme with support from Wera Tools, was focused on ending his season on a high as he returned to the scene of a memorable race win in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge last year.

Producing encouraging pace as he got reacquainted with the Brands Hatch GP circuit during free practice on Friday, the Staffordshire racer wasn’t quite able to show his true pace in qualifying the next morning as he finished up seventh overall in an extremely close-fought session.

There would be further frustration in the opening race as some issues with the car left him back in seventh at the finish, however he posted the fastest lap of the race and that filled him with confidence heading into Sunday with the issues resolved on his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The 18 year old rising star took full advantage in race two. Storming up to sixth on the opening lap, he then benefitted from two drivers going off circuit – one of whom he pressured into a mistake – to rise to fourth position prior to a safety car period.

When action resumed, Jenkins went on to challenge for the final podium position and his efforts paid off on the last lap. A great run out of Westfield got him up the inside of Max Coates into Sheene Curve for third place, a result that also crucially secured him the same position on the grid for the final race.

Jenkins, who races with the support of loyal personal partners Hopkins Motorsport, Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre and Culina Group, went on to double his podium tally for the day with a brilliant drive in an enthralling final race.

Renewing his battle with Coates, the duo produced some thrilling side-by-side racing as they traded third position. A potential grandstand finish was denied by an early red flag conclusion, which confirmed Jenkins ends the year with six podium finishes to his name.

Will Jenkins: “I’m over the moon to end the season on such a high note. After qualifying lower than hoped and battling some car issues on Saturday, I know I was in for a tough battle on Sunday but the team got the car in a great place and I was able to go out there and show what I could do.

“To come through the order in race two and then pull off a big move to grab a podium finish on the last lap felt awesome. The final race was a different sort of battle as I had to be more defensive, but it was great fun going wheel-to-wheel and ending with another podium.

“It’s been a season full of highs and lows as we got to grips with a new car and a new championship, so to be able to reward everyone’s efforts with a positive end to the year is a great feeling. Personally, it’s a big confidence booster heading into the winter and 2024.

“A huge thank you to Century Motorsport for all their hard work this year, they’ve kept pushing to improve the car and me every weekend, and to Alliance Racing, Wera Tools and my personal partners for making all of this possible. I’m excited to see what next year may bring.”

Alliance Racing will be a new name in British Motorsport with a strong background. Since Pete Osborne took ownership of the team there have been ambitious plans in place. The team is relocating to a new 30,000 square foot Motorsport head quarters in the Midlands in preparation for the 2024 Motorsport season. With the expansion of the team in 2023 and ambitious plans in the pipeline the move sparks the start of a new era for the team.

Pete Osborne:

‘This is a fresh and exciting new era for all of us involved. We’ve had strong plans right from the start and now we’ve done a few years learning and growing within the BTCC and TOCA package, we aim to continue in that vein. The team is made up of fantastic individuals who all echo our desires to grow and expand into other area’s of the industry while keeping the BTCC as a flagship programme.

We’re proudly representing NAPA Racing UK in BTCC, Mini & Truck racing along with other activities outside of the racing and we will continue to do so with NAPA by our side. Everyone in Motorsport has seen the impact we’ve had as NAPA Racing and the results are there because of the commitment of everyone involved.

Another project we’re extremely proud of is the Academy we’ve set up alongside Wera tools, which has already produced two young Champions in Theo Micouris & Alfie Garford and we’re delighted to help these youngsters at the start of their journey. A recent collaboration with Loughborough College has expanded the academy beyond supporting young drivers. This side of the academy is aimed at growing and nurturing young talent in all roles required in the Motorsport industry, such as mechanics, data & engineering, marketing & media and many more.

Having taken our Motorsport activity beyond the BTCC this season, we are now looking at plans to grow into other area’s. Watch this space!’

Thoughts from Jenson Mason on his recent races at Donington Park.

A toasty few days at Donington Park! The weekend wasn’t looking good with lack of power in Friday test and a bad qualifying session, but a solid team effort in the Mason awning resulted in a P10 finish from P23 in race 2 plus fastest lap in class.

Race 1 Got a great start but contact on the first corner resulted in a bent track rod. Two nasty incidents on track resulted in two red flags and the race was abandoned. Not nice to witness these lads rolling. So thankful everyone walked away

Race 2 Mega race! The rain came and tyre choice was tricky but I really enjoyed the mixed conditions. The car felt awesome and I had great pace. P10 from P23 plus fastest lap in class

Will Jenkins saw podium pace unfortunately go unrewarded as he produced a battling display during the penultimate round of the 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season at Silverstone (23/24 September).

Following on from a sensational maiden victory in the championship last time out at Donington Park, Jenkins was straight back on the leading pace from the off at Silverstone in his Century Motorsport prepared Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Jenkins, who is competing this season as part of BTCC team Motorbase Performance’s Young Driver Programme with support from Wera Tools, finished as the fastest Pro driver during free practice on Friday and went on to set the fourth best time during qualifying the next morning.

Unfortunately a post-session investigation deemed him to have overtaken another car under yellow flags during the session though, resulting in the harsh penalty of being disqualified from the session and having to start the opening two races from last on the grid.

He also received the added punishment of having to start 10 seconds later than the rest of the field in race one. Facing a real uphill battle to make progress in a very competitive field, he impressively posted the fastest lap of the race as he caught the pack and climbed to 12th overall.

With no additional time penalty for the start of race two, Jenkins was able to immediately go on the offensive in tricky, wet conditions. Rising seven places on the opening lap alone, he eventually worked his way up to ninth overall and sixth of the Pro class contenders.

Jenkins, who races with the support of loyal personal partners Hopkins Motorsport, Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre and Culina Group, lost ground avoiding a spinning car on the opening lap of race three. A strong run from there saw him post another fastest lap en-route to a ninth place finish.

Will Jenkins: “Unfortunately the penalty from qualifying turned the weekend on its head for us, and prevented us from really showing what we can do in the races. It’s a harsh penalty and ultimately meant race one was a right off for us, but I’m glad I was able to make some progress in the next two.

“To go fastest in class during free practice, qualifying up in the lead pack and then get a couple of fastest laps in the races shows the pace we have. We’ll take that big positive, regroup and come back stronger for the final rounds at Brands Hatch.”

The 2023 Porsche Sprint Challenge season finale takes place next month on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit (07/08 October).
