Round 3 MSUK British Bambino Kart Championship Glan Y Gors, May 17/18 2025
In the scenic hills of North Wales lies one of the UK’s largest and most exciting racing circuits. Here, Round 3 of the British Bambino kart Championship, featured a busy grid of 20 young racers. They faced a combination of fast, flowing corners, a challenging final sector, and significant elevation changes over the course of one lap.
Wera Alliance Academy driver Felix Tandy, found himself in a challenging situation after an incident early during Saturday morning’s qualifying session. Taking evasive action to avoid two spinning drivers in front of him, he found himself stranded in the long grass and was unable to rejoin and complete a single qualifying lap. As a result, he would start last of the 20 karts for the first two heats.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, Felix entered the first heat with a single goal: to win. By the end of the first lap, he had already climbed 11 positions, reaching ninth place. As the race progressed, Felix skilfully manoeuvred his way through the pack, and by lap 7, he had taken the lead. In the final minutes of the race, he brought his RCE team E-Plate kart across the finish line in first place. It was an incredible achievement, going from last to first in under 8 minutes!
In Heat 2, Felix again found himself starting from the back row. With high hopes following the previous heat’s amazing achievement of reaching the front of the field, it proved to be not so smooth running. He steadily made his way through the pack, managing to secure 4th position across the finish line. Pulling himself through the heats after a disappointing qualifying left him in good stead for Sunday’s superheats and final.

Still buzzing from Saturday’s brilliant results, Superheat 1 featured a close battle among the top six in the field. Multiple position changes throughout the race led to a photo finish where the number 3 kart claimed victory, by just 0.01 of a second, over Felix’s E kart.
On to Superheat 2, starting second on the grid once again, Felix initially dropped back to third in the early stages of the race. He engaged in a battle with the driver of the #82, but both competitors eventually made their way to the front of the field. Felix executed a fantastic manoeuvre around the outside of Devil’s elbow to take the lead. With exceptional defensive driving, he managed to hold off the 82 kart and secure his second victory of the weekend.

Felix, who had now secured pole position for the final, got the launch off the line and led the field into lap 1, though dropped to third place on lap 2 after facing fierce competition from the karts 82 and 3. Over the next 10 laps, the top three karts ran nose to tail in a nail-biting finale. After a rollercoaster weekend that saw the E kart go from last to first, Felix finished third, achieving his first BKC podium finish of the year, with less than half a second separating the top three drivers. With strong results in both the heats and the final, he earned valuable championship points.
The next round comes from the world-renowned PF International in Lincolnshire on 14/15 June.
