NAPA Racing UK’s technical partner Valvoline celebrates the relaunch of VR1 Racing at the home of UK motorsport, Silverstone for the penultimate round of the British Touring Car Championship (21/22 September).
To celebrate the relaunch of Valvoline’s all-new VR1 Racing oil, the #1 racing oil in the USA, NAPA Racing UK drivers Sam Osborne and Dan Cammish will be sporting the new VR1 Racing branding with a stunning new livery on their Ford Focus ST’s, along with race suits and team merchandise. The design is a global collaboration between NAPA Racing’s UK design team and the teams at Valvoline’s Kentucky, USA head office.
The Third Time’s a Charm:
This is the third iteration of a livery with partners Valvoline, since NAPA’s entry into the BTCC in 2022. In 2022, Sam Osborne and then teammate Ollie Jackson sported a tribute to Valvoline’s #5 NASCAR of Kyle Larson.
For 2023, the team celebrated the super touring era, with Sam Osborne driving a livery inspired by the 1995 Ford Mondeo, driven by two-time World Touring Car Champion Paul Radisich and Kelvin Burt.
VR1 Racing: An Eye on the Future
Valvoline VR1 Racing oil was the world’s first branded oil specifically formulated to offer unique, proven molecular protection for high-performance engines operating under high shear, high temperatures and high speed (RPM) conditions. It went on to become the best-selling racing oil of all time.
NAPA Racing UK have been using VR1 Racing since their partnership with Valvoline commenced in 2022 and the oil is available in all NAPA Auto Parts Stores.
Oly Collins, Team Manager of NAPA Racing UK said, “We’ve used VR1 Racing in our championship winning cars for the past two years. This year, it felt right to use the opportunity to highlight a product that helps deliver our success.”
Jarno Middelbosch, Valvoline Global Operations Marketing Director EMEA, said, “BTCC in the UK is what NASCAR is in the US; the largest national motorsport series. We are honoured to be able to add excitement to the event for the dedicated BTCC fans with unique branding and engagement – as we do each year in the US. Our motorsport team have worked with NAPA Racing UK to create unique, exclusive content for this round only. As we already start to think about our livery for 2025, we are always keen to hear from fans with inspiration and ideas.”
Fans will have the opportunity to take part in Valvoline’s Instagram (@ValvolineGlobalEMEA) competition to win Dan Cammish’s Valvoline race suit, signed by Dan himself, as well as buy the Valvoline VR1 merchandise at the trackside NAPA Store throughout the weekend.
