Ru, full name Ruaridh, is part of the Motorbase Driver Academy in 2022 for his second season in the MINI CHALLENGE.

Starting out on the circuits in karting in 2014, in the ranks of Junior Rotax, he moved up to senior competition two years later and won his first title. Debuting in cars in the BMW Compact Cup in 2017, Ru then stepped-up to the VW Racing Cup the following year where he became Vice-Champion with two wins and several podiums.

Focusing on his A-Levels in 2019, Ru contested a part season in VW and enjoyed more podium success – including another win – but a planned move into MINI in 2020 was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He instead debuted in MINI last year, taking second in the Rookie class and 11th overall in the standings.
