Motorbase Performance heads back to its
home circuit hoping for home advantage this coming weekend for the 2019 Porsche
Carrera Cup GB season finale on the iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit (October
12/13).

With the Pro category title already decided two weeks ago at Silverstone,
the Wrotham-based squad heads into the double-header on 2.4mile circuit as
closest contenders to the current Teams Championship leaders.

Sitting 35 points off JTR, Motorbase remains in mathematical reach of
clinching the title. However, with a maximum of 44 points available from the
two races, Lewis Plato and Dan Vaughan are at a disadvantage, even with local
knowledge and support.

A challenging meeting at Silverstone saw Lewis Plato drop down to fourth
in the standings, but with just six points separating him from third. Having
banked an impressive seven podiums this season on top of his race win at Croft,
the Essex-based racer is eager to add another to his tally and replicate his
race one victory from last year.

Dan Vaughan’s maiden season in the Pro ranks has delivered mixed results.
The Hampshire-man has shown flashes of race-winning pace all year but has sadly
only reached the podium twice. After a tricky last meeting at Silverstone, the
22-year-old is eager to make up for lost ground this weekend and end his season
on a high note.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“The first half of the season went really well, but then the second half
has fallen away from us. We’ve been racking up podiums but really not getting
enough wins to keep us in the title fight.

“We got caught out by the weather at Silverstone. It could have been a
completely different story with the tyre call, but sadly we didn’t get it right
on the day. We dropped down to fourth in the standings having been sat in 2nd
all year. It is possible to get back to 2nd. We are relying on the other guys
having a bad weekend, but then I had a bad weekend at Silverstone so it can
happen. We just have to the best job that we can, and maybe we’ll get a little
turn of luck come our way.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“I’m really excited for this weekend. It’s a circuit that I’ve always gone
well at. I can’t quite believe that we’re at the end of the season. It’s been a
great year again; the team have worked really hard. I don’t think that we’ve
had the results that we’ve deserved, but it’s just been one of those years.

“It’s important that we put in a good showing for the Teams Championship
this weekend. Both Lewis and I have a big job ahead of us to try and bag as
many points as possible to try and make that happen.”

Qualifying for round 15 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB takes place at 13.20
on Saturday (October 12). Sunday (October 13) plays host to both 17 lap races,
with round 15 scheduled for 10.40 and round 16 at 16.05. Live timing and
results for both events is available at: https://www.tsl-timing.com/event/194103

Motorbase Performance heads to
Silverstone’s National circuit this weekend ready to do battle once more as the
penultimate race meeting of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB gets underway (September
28/29).

Just four races remain in the 2019 title challenge as the one-marque
series enters its final push. With one victory and eight podiums already under
his belt, 26-year-old Lewis Plato will be looking to add to his impressive
tally as he seeks to close the 44-point gap to the current championship leader.

Dan Vaughan returns to the Northamptonshire circuit in strong form after
taking a 3rd-place podium in round 12 on the iconic GP circuit
earlier this month, clocking up his second podium finish of the year since
stepping up to the Pro-Class on only his second season competing in the Carrera
Cup GB.

Points and podiums are high on the agenda for the duo, with Motorbase
Performance also heading into the weekend in fierce contention for the Teams
Title. The Wrotham-based outfit currently lies in second place, just 14 points
off the leaders, so it’s all to play for on the 1.6mile circuit.

This weekend will also be an emotionally charged meeting for the entire
Motorbase squad, and in particular for Lewis Plato, whose father, and
much-loved supporter of the team, Mark Plato sadly passed away earlier this
month.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“It’s going to be strange racing without Dad there. He was the person that
got me into racing and was from a motorsport background himself. It’s something
we’ve always done together.

“I just want the whole Motorbase team to pick up some podiums and wins for
him. My aim is to secure second in the championship then I know that I’ve done
everything I could. I just want to do Dad proud this weekend.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“I’m feeling pretty confident heading into the weekend. We went well there
last year, and we had a really good weekend here with the WEC. Our race pace is strong but we just need to
find some more one-lap pace. Qualifying killed us at Silverstone last time, so
we need to nail it this weekend.

“Hopefully we can make it back onto the podium, and make up some more
points to close to the gap in the standings ahead of the final in a few weeks’
time.”

Qualifying for round 13 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB takes place at 13.25
on Saturday (September 28). Sunday (29 September) play host to both 28 lap
races, with round 13 scheduled for 09.50 and round 14 at 15.15. Live timing and
results for both events is available at: https://www.tsl-timing.com/event/193903

Motorbase Performance celebrated a
superb double podium on the legendary Silverstone GP circuit last weekend, with
Lewis Plato and Dan Vaughan collecting a podium apiece during rounds 11 and 12
of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB (August 31/September 1).

With the single-marque series racing alongside the FIA World Endurance
Championship for the first time since 2016, the Kent-based squad claimed 4
pieces of the silverware overall on the iconic 3.7 mile track. Taking
third-place podiums in both races, David Bartrum’s outfit also collected the
Team of the Weekend award, with Dan Vaughan taking the coveted Driver of the Weekend
honours.

Mixed results for the Motorbase duo in qualifying saw the drivers split
across the starting grid for race 1. A
strong start from Plato from the second-row saw the Essex-racer maintain
position in tricky, damp, conditions to take P3 at the flag, securing his
seventh podium of the season.

Having struggled to hook-up the car in practice and qualifying, Vaughan
came alive in the weekend opener, scything his way through the field from P12
to make up an impressive seven places on the tightly-contested grid to bring
the #55 Porsche 911 home in P5.

Starting from P2 for Sunday’s second race, Plato made an outstanding
charge off the line to challenge Gamble for the lead, before contact with
Harper forced the #11 Porsche down to 4th. Further drama on lap 8
with Plato and Harper coming together for a second time relegated him further,
and the 26-year-old eventually crossed the line in P5.

Having made his way into podium contention on the opening lap, Vaughan’s
fight-back continued in race two. A commanding drive through from fifth to
third was rewarded with a return to the rostrum for the New-Forest-based
driver. Proudly collecting silverware for his second podium finish of the year,
Vaughan also secured the Driver of the Weekend trophy.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“We arrived at Silverstone on the back foot with the other front runners
having had the benefit of racing on the GP circuit in the Supercup a few weeks
ago. I’d like to think when we return to the National layout it will be more of
an even playing field for everyone and we can get back to the front of the
pack.

“We’ve really had the upper hand on Webster all season, but this weekend
he’s closed the gap to us. So the plan is get that back. Race hard and clean in
the next two meetings and finish off the season with a strong second in the
championship.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“Silverstone was a great weekend. We struggled on Friday and in qualifying
but the team worked hard and we found a set-up that worked well for us in the
races. We had a good race car, even if the outright pace in qualifying wasn’t
as good.

“It’s a really important part of the championship for us to have that
points score. I can’t wait to get back out on the National circuit in a few
weeks and try and go one or two better.”

Motorbase Performance duo Lewis Plato
and Dan Vaughan are all set to take on the world-famous Silverstone GP circuit
this coming weekend, as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB heads to the ‘Home of
British Motorsport’ for rounds 11 and 12 (August 31/September 1).

Plato arrives at the Northampton circuit second in the overall championship
standings. Hunting down more victories to add to his win from Croft earlier
this year; the 26-year-old needs to snatch a solid haul of points to keep his
title-winning hopes alive.

Vaughan will be hoping to build on his impressive performance from
Thruxton just two weeks ago. The New-Forest-based racer displayed flashes of
exciting pace over the weekend, but struggled to convert that into strong
results, and the Motorbase man is keen for a rostrum return as the season picks
up pace.

The Motorbase crew enjoyed a successful test on the 3.66mile GP circuit
earlier in the month, and both drivers are keen to convert those learnings into
silverware during the weekend’s double-header.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“I’ve raced that weekend before. I’m looking forward to it. It’s great to
see all of the GT and LMP cars racing. It’s different to the TOCA weekend which
gets huge crowds and is a real event, whereas I feel the WEC is more for
enthusiasts. But it’s lovely to be racing there and on the full GP circuit. The
Porsche needs somewhere you can stretch its legs. There are plenty of places to
overtake so it offers up far more opportunities during a race.

“We tested there recently and I think it’s just trying to improve the car
in little increments. We’re in a good position already, but those tiny bits can
be the difference to getting the wins. On paper we’re quite a way off the
championship lead, but its motorsport and anything can happen. I don’t think
you can ever really say it’s over until the last flag drops. We’ve just got to
treat every weekend the same, keep chasing for the wins.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“It’s a big weekend for sure. Every driver wants to race on as big a stage
as possible. I’m really looking forward it. It’s a circuit that the people who have
done the Super Cup before have a massive advantage on. So I don’t really know
what to expect. But I came into Thruxton blind and we had a good start.

“The team have done a great job all season, I just hope that we can get a little
rub of luck and get the results we deserve at the weekend.”

Motorbase Performance duo Lewis Plato
and Dan Vaughan have their eyes on the prize as the second half of the Porsche
Carrera Cup GB season gets underway at Thruxton this coming weekend (August
17-18).

Returning to the high-speed circuit for the first time since 2014, the
battle for the Carrera Cup GB title honours is set to alight once more with
Plato in hot contention to close the gap to the current championship leader.

Both drivers will take on the formidable circuit for the first time this weekend, with the Porsche ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 machines set to hit speeds of around 170mph. Plato, who currently lies second in the standings, will be looking to add to his Pro Class victory from Croft to close the 20-point gap to Harper.

Vaughan’s Pro-Category journey continues after making the step-up from his
rookie Pro-Am season in 2018. After taking a second-place podium at Croft, the
New-Forest-based racer is confident of putting his recent learnings to good use
at his home circuit this weekend.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“We need to go there and win there are no two ways about it. I’ve never
been on the track in a race car so it’s a bit of an unknown quantity, but I’m looking
forward to it. We’re a fair chunk off leader Harper, but it’s definitely still
doable.

“The car has been good this year, but I don’t think we’ve hit that optimal
point yet. We recently tested at Silverstone and made some progress there, so
hopefully, that will pay off this weekend. We need a good, solid weekend to
stay in the hunt”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“I’m looking forward to getting cracking with the second-half of the
season. I think the first-half results were inevitable with the step up to the
Pro-Class. We could have had a few better results without doing a lot more, but
we’ve got some good learning behind us now. We had a recent test day at
Silverstone where I went back to basics rather than chasing data. I think that
will help me at Thruxton. I need to just relax a bit more in the car and not
overthink things as much.

“I feel pretty confident about the weekend. We usually do well at the
high-speed circuits. We’ve just got to make sure that we’re dialled into the
car on Friday.”

Both drivers will get to tackle the Hampshire circuit for the first time
during Friday’s test and free practice sessions, before Saturday’s (17 August)
30-minute qualifying session at 14.15.

Motorbase Performance celebrated a superb Pro Class 1-2 finish during a
dramatic weekend of action on North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit, propelling the
Kent-based squad into the joint lead of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship
standings.

Changeable weather conditions delivered
high drama on-track throughout the third meeting of the year, with
Motorbase-duo Lewis Plato and Dan Vaughan battling back from a less than ideal
start to secure a double podium finish in the final contest of the weekend.

Plato, who currently occupies 2nd
in the Pro Driver standings, took his highest-placed qualifying position of the
year in P2, securing a front-row grid start for round 5. Taking to the
high-speed circuit for the first time on Friday, Vaughan acquired an 8th
place sport on the damp track.

Making a strong start off the
line in the opening race, Plato held position in P2, keeping pace with the race
leader over the first lap. Unfortunately, contact with Gamble as the pair
charged through the complex resulted in suspension damage for the #11 Porsche.
Plato managed to remain on track, but dropped down the order and eventually
crossed the line in P9.

Avoiding the lead-pack melee,
Vaughan had quietly made his way up into a Pro Class podium spot until lap 8
when he was passed by Perez. Narrowly missing out on a rostrum visit, the 22-year-old
crossed the line 4th in class, P5 overall.

Race two was a frenetic affair.
Starting from 5th and 10th on the grid, Vaughan and Plato
joined the group of 10 cars that pitted at the end of the formation lap to
switch to wets as heavy rain descended. Taking to the sodden track after a
lightning pit-stop by the Motorbase crew, Plato and Vaughan leapt up the order
as drivers and teams battled with late tyre changes.

The safety car appearance on lap
7 allowed the field to close-up once more, and with just 4 laps remaining after
the restart, Plato and Vaughan remained in strong podium contention. With two
Pro-Am racers taking first and second for the first-time in Carrera Cup
history, Plato crossed the line in 3rd place overall, closely
followed by Vaughan in P4 – with the team-mates securing the Pro Class win and
runner-up position for a Motorbase 1-2 finish.

Despite Plato being handed a
two-point penalty for his incident with Gamble in round 5, Motorbase
Performance has moved into joint championship lead in the Team standings. Plato
and Vaughan remain in 2nd and 6th place in the Pro
Drivers’ championship ahead of rounds seven and eight at Oulton Park on June
29/30.

Quotes:

#11 Lewis Plato:

“It doesn’t really feel like a win, in the true sense but I’ll take
it! Certainly, maximum points race 2 helps us out with the championship. Race 1 was obviously disappointing. Personally,
I think the two-point penalty was unjustified. When you look at the move, you
can see me look in the mirror you can’t see the other car there. I turn in, he
goes in very deep on the brakes and essentially we hit each other. No intention
on either side, but because his car was written off it seemed like we were
given the penalty. At the end of the day, when you go for an overtake you take
the risk. The fact that different decisions were made on similar incidents doesn’t
really make sense. It certainly cost us a podium, if not a race win.

“We got lucky in race 2 to be
fair. Starting from the back of the grid, the crew did a great job on the
pit-stop and we made up about 5 or 6 places. The track was so wet; no-one could
really overtake.

“It’s our first Motorbase 1-2
however and all being well we can continue that at Oulton Park. I’ve been on
the podium there pretty much every year, but never got the win. Hopefully, we
can make it another strong weekend and make up the points’ distance.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“That was the hardest weekend. I
went into qualifying only having done about 15 laps on the circuit and none in
the dry before the first race. It was a bit of a baptism of fire, so to come
away with a 4th and 2nd in class was a great result. My
first lap in the dry was the first lap in the race so it was strange not
knowing where to go, but it worked out pretty well.

“Race 2 was a very strange race.
I was in the lead of the class and 4th overall with about 10 laps to
go. Then the safety car came out which gave everyone the chance to get up
behind me. I had to fend off Webster and Harper for the last few laps. It was a
really hard race, so felt great to get the class podium.

“It’s been frustrating for me
this year. The results haven’t shown the pace before this weekend. The whole
team will benefit from that result. Points-wise the weekend has brought us all
closer together in the championship.”

Motorbase Performance duo Lewis Plato
and Dan Vaughan are set to reignite their Porsche Carrera Cup GB title
challenge as the fastest single-marque series roars back into action at Croft
circuit this weekend (June 15/16).

Fresh off the back of an extended six-week break, the Wrotham-based squad
arrives in North Yorkshire in strong title contention. Currently 2nd
in the Teams’ championship points, Motorbase Performance is just five points
adrift of the top of the table.

With three podiums from four races already under his belt, Plato has
enjoyed a superb start to his 2019 campaign. The 26-year-old sits 2nd
in the driver standings and is eager to add a maiden race win to his
championship tally on the North Yorkshire track.

After stepping up from his rookie Pro-Am season in 2018, Vaughan’s excellent
progression in the Pro Class continues. The 22-year-old has scored points in
all but one of this year’s contests and was unlucky to have missed out on a
podium place from his strong showing last time out at Donington Park.

#11 Lewis Plato:

“It’s been a long break, so I’m looking forward to getting back out in the
car this weekend.

“Croft has just been resurfaced, so it will be interesting to see how that
affects the times. I’ve only raced there once before. I quite like the track
though. It’s fast and bumpy and I’m sure that we’ll get back into the groove
quickly come Friday.

“We’ve had a great start to the season so far. I’ve had three second
places, so now I think it’s time to move up to the top step and get a win in
the bag. We need a strong qualifying result, and then try to keep it clean and
tidy in the races. We’re only 7 points off the lead. A good weekend could see
us turn that into a points lead.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“We were unlucky to come away from Donington Park with the results we did.
I think we’re looking good heading to Croft. The pace is there, for sure.

“It would be nice to get a podium or two this weekend but a really solid
haul of points would be great for our championship. I’ve never raced at Croft
before, so I just need to get out there on Friday and learn the track as
quickly as possible.”

Both drivers will get to tackle the newly-resurfaced circuit for the first
time during Friday’s test and free practice sessions, before Saturday’s (15
June) 30-minute qualifying session takes place at 15.45.

Sunday (16th June) plays host to both 15 laps races, with round 5 scheduled for 12.45 and round 6 at 16.15. Both races will be broadcast live on itv4, itv4HD and online via the itv4Hub at itv.com/hub/itv4.

Motorbase Performance closed in on the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship
lead at Donington Park last weekend, moving up into 2nd place in the
standings after securing its 3rd podium of the season on the Leicestershire
circuit (April 27/28).

Tricky weather produced difficult
driving conditions once again for Saturday’s 30-minute qualifying session.
After topping the timing screens early on, Lewis Plato was the fastest
Motorbase-man on-track, securing a second-row grid spot in P3 – just two
hundredths off pole position with team-mate Dan Vaughan in P6.

Race one was action-packed from
the get-go for the Wrotham-based outfit. After being overtaken by Harper on the
opening lap, Plato quickly reclaimed 3rd on the second tour of the
circuit. Mounting a challenge for P2 on lap 7, he, unfortunately, hit a damp
patch, pitching him onto the grass and dropping the #11 car back down the order.
Plato managed to re-join the race, eventually crossing the line a nose ahead of
team-mate Vaughan, and the duo finished in P4 and P5 respectively.

Starting from second by virtue of
the race two reversed grid, Vaughan made a superb start off the line to take
the race lead at Redgate. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old was unable to maintain
the lead for the full duration of the race. With the safety car called into
action early on, Vaughan came under increasing pressure from the charging pack
and dropped back in the closing laps, bringing the #55 car home in P5.

Plato meanwhile had managed to
work his way through the pack to take 3rd place by the second tour
of the circuit. Finding a way past
Vaughan on lap 15, the Essex-racer slotted his BML-backed #11 Porsche into P2
to claim his third podium of the season as the flag dropped.

The strong weekend points haul
sees Motorbase Performance move up into 2nd in the Teams’
Championship standings, now just 5 points off the current leaders. Plato also
lies 2nd in the Pro Drivers’ Category, only seven points off the
lead. The Porsche Carrera Cup GB now enters its mid-season break, before
reconvening at North Yorkshire’s Croft circuit on June 15/16.

Quotes:

#11 Lewis Plato:

“That’s three podiums from four
races so we can’t complain!

“Race one was going to plan until
we got pitched off the track. I lost my front splitter when we hit the grass,
and that really hampered our pace to come back. I had a good start in race two
before we dropped back. But, we managed to work our way back up to 2nd
and whilst it would have been nice to get the race win, I’m happy with the
podium.

“We tried a few set-up changes
going into the weekend, which really worked well. The car was definitely quicker.
It was annoying to have missed pole by only two hundredths, but we have a lot
of positives to take into Croft. The car is feeling better than it did at
Brands. We keep working hard and keep improving with each round, so it’s all
looking strong for the championship.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“It was a good weekend. I don’t
think we quite had the pace, but I think we did well with what we had. Race two
I thought I drove as well as I had done in Porsches. We were unlucky with the
safety car; we’d built up quite a nice lead at that point, so that was
frustrating.

“There were a few things that
didn’t quite go our way but we showed a lot more potential. We’ve got a couple
of days testing before Croft, so I’m sure we’ll be back in the mix when the championship
picks up again.”

Results:

Motorbase Performance
celebrated a return to the rostrum at the weekend, with a superb double podium
during the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season opener at Brands Hatch (April
6/7).

New signing Lewis Plato stated
his intent on the championship challenge with a convincing performance on the
1.2mile Indy circuit layout, collecting two second-placed podium finishes for
the Wrotham-based squad at its home circuit.

Plato topped the times in both
free practice runs, with team-mate Dan Vaughan setting P2 and P5 lap times, and
the duo looked set for a front-row start. Damp conditions, however, made for a
tricky qualifying run, and after initially leading the way with a Motorbase
1-2, the grid switched to slicks as times tumbled, leaving Vaughan and Plato in
fifth and sixth places respectively.

Severe fog delayed Sunday’s race
proceedings. After a two-hour wait, the season opener got underway in wet
conditions. Vaughan made an excellent start off the line, moving up into P2 on
the opening lap, before settling into 3rd place position. Unfortunately, his hopes
of a podium to kick-start his Pro campaign was dashed after contact dropped the
22-year-old down the order, and he eventually crossed the line in 7th.

Plato, meanwhile, had been making
his way steadily up through the pack. Taking the third spot on lap 19, the
Essex-man took advantage of a mistake by Perez at Druids to steal into 2nd,
bringing the #11 Porsche home for a maiden Motorbase podium.

A stellar drive from Plato in the
second race of the day rewarded the Motorbase Performance team with a return to
the rostrum. Starting from the second row, the 26-year-old charged off the line
to take P2 from Perez, where he remained, holding off a challenge from Harper
over the remaining laps, and picking up an additional point for setting the
fastest lap.

Vaughan’s end to the weekend
sadly failed to live up to expectations once more. Struggling with a puncture
in the early laps, his race came to abrupt end with 10 laps still to run when
the #55 911 left the circuit at Paddock Hill bend, causing race-ending damage.

The weekend’s results leave Plato
sitting 2nd in the Pro category Drivers’ championship, just two points of the
leader. Motorbase currently lies third in the Teams’ standings heading into
rounds 3 and 4 at Donington Park on April 27/28.

Quotes:

Team Principal David Bartrum:

“It was really nice to get the
Carrera Cup season underway at our home circuit. It was a good start to the
season for Lewis, getting two podiums under his belt. Dan has a bit of work to
do. It feels great to be back to running two cars once again.

“A fantastic job by the team at
the weekend, and we’re looking forward to banking some more points at
Donington.”

#11 Lewis Plato:

“Really happy with the way the
weekend went. For the past six seasons, I’ve had something happen on the first
weekend that has massively impacted on my championship. To come away with two
podiums and the fastest lap is great.

“Realistically, after being P1 in
free practice, without the weather in qualifying, we would have been
challenging for pole position. It’s still early days with the team. We’re still
learning, but so far things are looking positive for the rest of the season.

“Donington is one of the tracks where I won last year. I’ve qualified on the front row the last couple of times I’ve raced there. Hopefully, we can do the same again.”

#55 Dan Vaughan:

“Not the start to the new season
that I was hoping for, sadly. It started well in free practice and qualifying,
but the weather just tipped the grid upside down. We were really unlucky not to
start on the front row. Race 1 was going well until I got hit by a back-marker,
and then it all went downhill from there.

“I’m just looking ahead to
Donington Park now, and ready to get my season off the ground there. We took a
Pro-Am class win there last year, and we’ve been testing there a few weeks ago.
We know the pace is in the car. Hopefully, we’ll have a turn of luck and get
our challenge back on track.”

Results:

#11 Lewis Plato:

Qualifying: P6

Round 1: P2

Round 2: P2

#55 Dan Vaughan:

Qualifying: P5

Round 1: P7

Round 2: DNF

Motorbase Performance will field an expanded two-car squad for the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, after penning a new deal for Lewis Plato to partner Dan Vaughan for the Kent-based outfit’s Pro Class championship campaign.

One of the most successful teams in the Carrera Cup GB’s illustrious history, David Bartrum’s 2010 Championship winning team returned to the German marque series last season, after a six-year sabbatical.

Running rookie Vaughan in a single-car entry, the Wrotham-based team collected an impressive three race wins and five podiums in the Pro-Am class, with the New-Forest based racer ending the year as runner-up.

Following on from his highly-credible debut season, which also saw him voted as the ‘Porsche Driver of the Year’, Vaughan returns to the Motorbase fold once more, making the step-up to the Pro-Class this season, alongside his new team-mate.

Two-times race winner, Plato, makes the move to the Motorbase stable for his 4th full season in the series. Challenging for the Pro Class title in 2018, the 26-year-old made history at the Brands Hatch final, winning the historic 300th Porsche Carrera Cup GB race at his home circuit.

Having previously raced together in karting, and as team-mates in the Radical Challenge, both Plato and Vaughan are relishing the chance to work together once more, with Team Principal David Bartrum, excited by the prospect and potential of the young, ambitious line-up.

“It’s taken a lot of hard work over the winter to pull this line-up together. To retain Dan for another season and adding Lewis as his team-mate is a great result for Motorbase, and I think they will make a formidable pairing.

“Lewis and Dan have been team-mates before so know each other really well. I know they will work well together and hard for the team. With both drivers in the Pro category this season, our eye is firmly on the title fight. Dan is coming off the back of a great debut season and Lewis comes to us with a strong pedigree, with three strong seasons behind him.

“The Porsche Carrera Cup is never an easy championship to race in, let alone win, but I think we have a great line-up this year, with a strong team behind them. I can’t wait to get to work.”

Lewis Plato added; “I’m very excited about this season. When we finished last year, we really weren’t too sure about where we’d be racing this season. I’ve known David [Bartrum] and the team for years so it’s nice to be associated with them and racing as a Motorbase driver.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully having a successful year and showing everyone just how good the team really is. Realistically, this year the aim is to win. Of course, there are always variables that get in the way of that, but I’m really looking forward to getting started and targeting the top step.”

Dan Vaughan said; “I’m really excited for this season. Last year was a great learning curve for me, getting to know the car and building the relationship with the team. I think this year with a new team mate in Lewis [Plato] and a much stronger team, we’re going to be in a great positon to challenge for overall wins and hopefully get a result for Motorbase.

“After coming 2nd in Pro-Am last year and getting driver of the year I’m in a great position to move on, and to get some better results further up the grid. I feel that now is the right time for me to move up into the Pro class and I can’t wait to get going.”

The eight-meeting 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season gets underway on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, on April 6/7 as part of the TOCA support package, with extensive free-to-air ITV coverage.
