Round 1 MSUK British Bambino Kart Championship
Warden Law, March 22/23 2025
The start of 2025 saw Warden Law host round one of the British championship for the MSUK recognised bambino kart class.
A great Friday test day saw Felix right at the top of the times in dry and sunny conditions. Saturday morning arrived with changeable conditions, and a wet qualifying session. With a capacity grid of twenty-two 6-8 year old drivers, finding a clear lap would be key.
Luck was not to be, drawing P16 on a random grid draw for qualifying starting positions. With his last three laps of a short session compromised in slower traffic, P9 meant work was ahead for both Saturdayβs heat races.
Heat one saw a measured drive to sixth place. Heat two, back in wet conditions, saw contact from behind on lap one and a spin dropping Felix to the back of the pack. Race pace was good however, at times lapping over a second faster than the leaders, ending in a P13 result.
Accumulated points from the heats meant an eighth place start for Sundayβs super heats. P5 and P2 finishes, with the fastest lap, gave strong championship points and hope for the Final.
Starting sixth, from total points scored across all heat races, a good start meant Felix was up to P3 by lap two and looking a favourite for the victory. An over aggressive move from another competitor however, which was later penalised by race control, saw Felix spun around again and sent tumbling down the order. Quickly rejoining, he made his way back up from fourteenth to finish sixth, again with race leading lap times.
With five more rounds to go in the championship, Felix sits tied for fourth place in the points chart, just seventeen adrift of the leader. Next up is round two at Shenington on April 26/27
