The British F4 2025 season has started with style for Chase Fernandez at a sunny Donington Park this weekend.
Official testing took place on Thursday with Chase showing strong promise putting several early laps at the top of the time sheets.
Saturday morning qualifying was a tough session, and despite battling a technical issue Chase pushed the car to its limits for a P11 in the upcoming race with less than half a second separating the top 11 drivers.
Going into race 1 in the midfield is never the ideal place to start and several wheel to wheel battles saw Chase both gaining and losing positions before fighting his way back up through the grid with some showstopping overtakes. In the final lap one of those passed cars made contact with Chase’s rear wheel causing damage and unfortunately ended his race before the chequered flag.
Race 2 on Sunday morning with the sun shining and P2 on the grid for Chase was a fresh start to his weekend. The team had worked late to ensure the car was ready to fight and sure enough, Chase launched off the line immediately into the lead by turn 1. A superb drive and race management by Chase saw him lead throughout and win his first victory of the season and the first ever British F4 win for the Xcel Motorsport Team!
The final race of the weekend starting from P11 again on Sunday afternoon was a great race. With the car now on form and the confidence boost from from his earlier win Chase showed fantastic pace, faster than the race leaders ahead and making moves through the grid. Finishing the race in P5, Chase said “a brill way to round off the weekend with a win, a P5, a load of points and a giant trophy!”.
