Wera Tools British F4 Round 2 race report – chase fernandez

An intense weekend of hard racing for the Wera Alliance Academy number 90 at the famous Silverstone GP circuit.

Throughout testing on Thursday a technical issue continued with the car from the previous weekend. Chase and the team worked through setting changes and data looking for the root cause because, well, that’s what test days are for!

Friday morning qualifying, lots of work done by the team in the early hours and some parts changes in preparation. A faultless drive by Chase however only managed to reach P13, the car still not able to match the top speeds of his rivals.

Starting from the middle of the grid in 13th for Race 1 on Friday afternoon, Chase as always made a rocket launch from the start instantly gaining places. Lots of battles and tremendous racecraft throughout saw places gained and places lost, finally crossing the line in P15. The highlight of Chase’s day was the surprise arrival of his top young supporters bringing some homemade brownies to brighten his day (thanks guys!).

Investigation work on the car continued, the team worked hard and tried in vain to find the mysterious issue. Races 2 and 3 however completed the weekend in P13 and P11 without any championship points, but with a world class demonstration by Chase of how to fight against more powerful machines! Making places and taking positions through the corners but getting reeled back in on the long straights made for exciting but frustrating races.

Now Chase intends to put Silverstone GP behind him as he prepares full force for the next round at Snetterton- a favourite circuit where in 2024 Chase took pole and was a triple winner with a clean sweep of P1s.

Chase said “I have full confidence that we will be at Snett ready to take control. Wera Tools is known for finding solutions that others haven’t thought of and that’s the spirit that the team will be bringing back to the workshop with the #90 F4 car.”
