Italy beckons for the Motorbase Performance team as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship arrives at the historic Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit for rounds 5 and 6 this coming weekend (May 12/13).

The only overseas event on the eight weekend calendar, the single marque series is set to make its Italian debut supporting the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) on the world-famous 3.6mile track.

Motorbase Performance heads into the weekend in confident form following Dan Vaughan’s maiden Pro-Am class win last time out at Donington Park. The 21-year-old has already made his mark in the highly-competitive field on his rookie season, and currently lies 2nd in the Pro-Am Championship standings.

“Monza is one of my all-time favourite circuits, so I’m really looking forward to this weekend;” commented Team Principal David Bartrum. “It always delivers exciting, close racing. We’ve raced there a number of times in the Blancpain, but never made the podium so hopefully we can turn that around this weekend and Dan can close the gap in the Pro-Am Championship.

“Dan is coming into the weekend in the right frame of mind off the back of a great weekend at Donington Park. Racing in Europe is great experience for him and last weekend played a perfect hand in getting him ready for Monza.”

“I can’t wait for Monza;” added Vaughan. “It’s a track that I’ve always dreamed of racing at so to get the chance now is really exciting.

“I think the circuit will suit us well and hopefully we can carry the momentum from Donington Park into this weekend. We’ve shown we have the pace; I just need to iron out a few rookie errors and keep my nose clean this weekend and I’m sure we can get back onto the podium.”

Rounds 5 and 6 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB get underway on the Monza Nazionale circuit on May 12/13. Following Friday’s free practice sessions, qualifying takes place at 11:00 local time on Saturday 12th May before round 5 – a 30 minute contest – at 15:00.

Sunday 13th May plays host to the final 45 minute race at 10:20am local time, with live streaming of both races available via: www.porsche.co.uk/Monza
